Hello ClickUp Team, I’d like to request a feature that would greatly improve our workflow - The ability to automatically set a subtask’s custom field value (especially dropdown fields) to match the value from its parent task using automations. Currently, when we create subtasks via automation, we can’t dynamically copy custom field values (like “Site Location”) from the parent task. This means we have to manually set these fields for each subtask, which is time-consuming and prone to error. The use case for us is for events we have 3 stages - set up, support and break down. They would all use the same cutom field "location" value e.g. "Main Hall" It would be extremely helpful if, in the automation builder, we could select a variable such as “Parent: [Custom Field Name]” when setting a custom field value for a subtask. This would ensure consistency and save a lot of manual work for teams managing events or repeating processes. It’s possible that I may have missed this option in the automation builder—if so, I’d appreciate any guidance on how to achieve this! Thanks Neil.

Currently it looks like we can only apply a task template, we'd like to have a folder template created when a task status changes July 7, 2023 EDIT: Original title was just looking to have folder templates added. List and Space were added as well as they are related asks.

I'd like to be able to set the Sharing and Permissions on a task via automation. Currently this option does not exist. A simple use case would be: Upon creation of a task, set Sharing and Permission to the task creator and the ClickUp Team responsible for the list/the list owner. In general it seems like the Sharing and Permission on Tasks (aka private tasks) is an underserved feature. I'm guessing it's maybe not the most popular feature per usage, but then personally, I wasn't aware of its existence, and an automation tie-in feels like it could make this more usable.

It would be really handy to run automations only when certain conditions are met, like the message in a chat contains a specific text. AI can help here but comes with a bunch of additional constraints, like not having real @mentions.

AI Notetaker is well integrated into many parts, except as a simple trigger for automations. Our current use case would be along the lines of: When new AI Notetaker note doc is created/saved, then <do stuff ... such as parse it, send follow-ups, etc..>

I would like to have the ability to create calendar events using the email addresses stored in custom fields. Currently, the automation only pulls the attendees from the workspace users, which limits our ability to include all team members who should attend the meeting. This creates duplicate work because we cannot automatically add additional participants to these events.

I'd love to be able to apply automations on a global level (across the whole workspace). The way our company uses ClickUp means that we want each space to have the same "features", are organized the same, and are utilized the same. This means whenever I create a custom automation for one space, I then have to manually add it to all of our other spaces. We have quite a few spaces, so it takes a while. Having the ability to apply automations to a whole workspace would save a lot of time :).

Description: It would be extremely helpful if Dashboard cards could automatically update to reflect changes in the folder structure of a Space. Specifically, I’d like the ability for a Dashboard card (such as a task list or reporting card) to automatically include any new folders added to a selected Space, and remove folders that are deleted or moved out of that Space, without requiring manual updates to the card’s settings. Use Case: We manage properties using a Space called “Active Properties,” where each property is represented as a folder. Our Transaction Coordinator dashboard relies on cards that summarize or report on these folders. Currently, whenever a property (folder) is added or removed, we have to manually update the Dashboard card to keep it accurate. Automating this process would save time, reduce errors, and ensure our dashboards always reflect the current state of our Space. Benefit: Reduces manual maintenance of dashboards Ensures reporting is always up to date Improves workflow for teams managing dynamic Spaces Thank you for considering this feature!

Problem: Automation does not work for us, because we need to populate properties relative to other properties in the task (not “hard-coded”). From support: Automations currently only support hardcoded values. Dynamic field values for automations is a great suggestion! I would recommend dropping by our feedback board and leaving any suggestions there!
