Hi, I thought with ClickUp 4.0 you will finally address the mess of notifications. But seems you didn't. The thing is: Every day I check my notifications page and I have "99+" notifications that have NOTHING to do with me and I don't care about. None of them are assigned to me or mentioning me. Why should I see them? I would expect that I only see notifications for: 1- tasks I am assigned to 2- comments I am mentioned in 3- comments I am assigned to Instead, I see all these notifications that have nothing to do with me, which makes the counter completely useless. I doubt there is an scenario where someone in a team wants to see any notification that is not listed in points (1-3 above). The "assigned to me" and "mentioning me" filters are OK, but why should I be selecting a filter to "filter out" notifications that I should not be seeing in the first place? The whole point of a notification is to notify YOU of something important YOU should know. I think showing only notifications in points 1-3 above will help save time and optimize the workflow of hundreds of ClickUp users.

Can the default notification settings be controlled by an administrator? The current default settings for a user, are to broad for our goal. If the user upon initial start of use, gets too many notifications, they will just go into the settings, and have the urge to turn all off. (Or they use a mail rule, to turn them over to an bulk folder) Please make it so we can set a different standard per Team

In ClickUp 4.0, Inbox currently lives inside the Home panel, which is the second sidebar. This works only when I’m already on Home. However, when I’m working deeper inside Spaces, Folders, or Lists, my focus is on the primary (far-left) sidebar. At that point, Inbox is no longer immediately accessible, and I have to navigate back to Home just to reach it. Inbox is a global command center for comments, mentions, and things that need attention. Because of that, it should live in the primary sidebar, directly under Home, alongside other global navigation items. Having Inbox in the main sidebar would make it accessible at all times, regardless of where I am in the workspace, and would significantly reduce friction for users who rely heavily on comments and collaboration throughout the day.

In the ClickUp Inbox, when I click on a comment, it does not open the task. Instead, it opens a comment-only view, where replies are shown stacked underneath the original comment. In this view, it’s very unclear what I’m supposed to read first, which comment is a reply to which, and what the full context is. This comment-only view is not useful for understanding the task history. I almost always need to see the full task, including previous comments, status changes, field updates, and overall activity, to properly understand what’s going on. Right now, I have to take extra steps to open the task and then manually find the comment again. For tasks with multiple comments or long discussions, this is confusing and inefficient. My normal workflow is to open the task, review the surrounding history, and then respond or take action. I already do this manually every time, and it would be much better if ClickUp supported this flow natively. I would like clicking a comment in the ClickUp Inbox to open the task itself and automatically scroll to and highlight the exact comment that triggered the Inbox item, instead of opening a standalone comment view. This would make it much clearer what relates to what and would significantly improve Inbox usability.

As a ClickUp Workspace Owner, I don't want to get notifications from ClickBot comments that aren't assigned to me. Right now, I have an automation installed in ClickUp, that works as follows: One day after the Due Date of a task the automation starts The automation adds a comment to the automation that says "Due date has passed, do something with this task" and we assign that comment to the person that is assigned to the task Unfortunately, I (the Workspace Owner) also get notifications of all these comments, even when I am not assigned to the task. And in the notifications settings I cannot "unselect" New Comments, since that is greyed out. Already talked with ClickUp support about this, they didn't have any solution.

I am loving the 4.0 upgrade and trying to get everything moved over, but there's. a huge lacking issue that there is no visual notification for direct messages built in. The sound is fine but for those that are lots of meetings, you cannot have that enabled or it's an issue during a meeting. we would LOVE there to be an indicator in the browser window for messages because they are imporant!

I want to be notified only about others activity. For example - if others change decription - I want to know it, but if I change it - I know about it a do not want to receive worthless notifications. I want to be sure every notification has reasonable value.

We love clickup notifications because of the notification stream, that is less disruptive of your work and you can work through notifications similar to an inbox and can clear the notifications. In parallel, we use an external chat tool which is "disrupting" your work similar to a phone call for urgent requests. Now the problem is that clickup chats go into the same "work pipeline" of notifications as all the notifications. Hence, they are not really serving their "high priority" purpose. To address this, my suggestion would be: Show a notification bubble on tasks in the tray (or allow this to be turned on) Allow chat views to be sent to the tray and then give them a notification bubble. Alternatively you could also give us a separate notification view for chats or a chat view similar to the central doc view. In all implementations it is important that from the main view you can see your chat notifications and that these are separated from the normal notifications.

Current inbox customization is too limited. The idea of the inbox is great with one area to keep visibility on chats, tasks & messages, however the vast amount of irrelevant notifications that flood the inbox on a daily basis make this functionality worthless. It would be extremely valuable to be able to limit notifications very granularly or even to turn them off altogether.
