Show Parent Task Names on Notifications for Subtasks
future
Destiny Pidgeon
The new inbox doesn't show the parent task name on the main view (important/other) when a notification is for a subtask. (Old notifications did.) You can get to it by clicking into the notification, but it would be preferred to have that at-a-glance insight.
We often put the client name on the parent task and don't put it on the subtasks to avoid redundancy. (Also because of template limitations.) So a person can be assigned several tasks named the same thing. It would be really nice to be able to see parent task name in the main view.

Missing main task (breadcrumbs) in the subject line of email notifications
Wim Delfs
There is little info in the subject line of notifications sent by mail. Can the main task of the subtasks be added? So that our employees and customers can see at a glance what the notification is about. If you work with templates (for subtasks) all notifications are the same and you don't see in your mailbox a distinction about which main task this is specifically about.
See example on picture. Where you can also see an example from Basecamp. They show the project name. We would like to see the maintask from ClickUp (those are our projects).
Same for the notifications in inbox ClickUp. A little more attention could be paid to the breadcrumbs in ClickUp. Including the main task! After all, it is a main task.

are you saying that the connection between parent and subtask is now resolved in the calendar?

The parent task name is shown in Inbox already! Its been this way for a while now, so closing this old feature request!

Brendan W Not in Outlook email Just in Clickup Inbox.

Brendan W Not in desktop or mobile notifications. And In the inbox, you have to click on the notification to see the parent task name - it is preferred to have that information at-a-glance

Brendan W I've noticed that some of the email notification include the Parent Record Task (i.e. Project Name), whereas other notification do not.
"Daily Summary" (My tasks from noreply@clickup.com) does NOT include Parent record task name. This would be very valuable to have included, otherwise little value and easy to ignore.
When it is sent from ClickUp Notifications (notifications@tasks.clickup.com) it does include the Parent Project Name (bread crumbs).

Brendan W I am not seeing any parent task names at a glance in inbox! This is definitely NOT COMPLETE - here's a couple of screen shots and you can clearly see only the sub-task names are visible!
LBell
Brendan W The OP is asking for the hierarchy in "the main view" where it currently is not. It seems this request should be merged into the thankfully "Planned" action here:
Thanks!
Destiny Pidgeon
Brendan W I would not consider this done. The parent task name is still only showing when you click into the notification. Here is an example directly from my inbox, where this is a subtask and the parent task name is not showing in this summary view.

Liz Fisher David Castro Dave Punch My apologies! I merged into the wrong feature request, but I've marked this open again :)

Ralph Stokes Destiny Pidgeon Hey! As LBell mentioned, the feature request you're looking for is https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/inbox-needs-to-show-breadcrumbs-space-folder-list-without-clicking-into-each-row

Brendan W Actually as the original poster, I think I would know what I was looking/asking for. I won't disagree that other post is similar or even the same. But the reason I said this wasn't done is because what I was asking for here, in this post, wasn't done.
Brendan W
Destiny Pidgeon: I understand. Lots of users have now upvoted your feature request, but are intending for it to support parent task names in push notifications, emails, etc., not just Inbox.
Since we don't have a great way right now to split feature requests up (we don't know what user wants the parent task name in what location), my recommendation is to be sure to upvote that other request and we'll work to add it everywhere before closing this one :)

Option for subtasks to inherit task names when a template is applied
Hannah Nurse
It would be great to have the option that when creating templates, for subtasks to inherit the parent task name, this is because currently notifications are not descriptive enough to ensure the user knows which subtask the parent task (project) belongs to.
Liz Fisher
Useless. This issue is over 2 years old and still no solution.
Lily Chan
Hannah Nurse Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! Can you tell me a little bit more about your FR?
For example, would you expect the subtask name to be prefixed with the parent task name? Or is it more about just having more context in the notification to show the parent task?
Hannah Nurse
Hey Lily Chan, We find the notifications often lack the visibility needed to know which project the subtask is coming from so, we tend to start every subtask with the name of the parent task to tie it all together. For example: Task name: Company XYZ Subtasks Company XYZ - Editorial, Company XYZ Client Contact etc etc. You can do this with automations but you cannot do this from a template forming perspective. It would be great if you had some sort of 'merge tag' so you can populate the template subtasks with the Taskname and subtask name for more seamless notification and to be able to tie up projects easier in the inbox nonfiction menu and email notifications
Lily Chan
Hannah Nurse: I see. It sounds like the core of the problem is that the notifications don't provide enough information (e.g. in the breadcrumbs) to be able to easily differentiate which projects subtasks correspond to. I think your request would best align with this existing Feature Request that has a lot of votes, so I'll merge it there: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/show-parent-task-names-on-notifications-for-subtasks
