Feature Requests

I shouldn't have to create a task, apply a template, edit the task, then save the template. I should be able to edit the template directly in the template centre, then close the template centre when finished.

Ability to save forms as templates at the space level so that we can simplify and streamline the process of requesting communications materials for internal staff. We primarily use ClickUp to manage all internal comms requests so, while I appreciate the new forms feature, I think relying on each member of the staff to create a form correctly is a bit too ambitious. But I don't want to be tasked with creating several different forms and then emailing them the link because I often don't know what they're working on and what their needs are until they've created a prioject/list in ClickUp using a saved template.

We struggled a lot trying to include a formula field in a list template. We tried many times, contacted the support, reading help documents but was impossible to get an explanation. Finally a support agent explained that was not possible to do that. We had a List Template which purpose is the administration flollow-up of each of our projects. We need a formula to calculate payable amounts we need to charge our clients, so we can replicate this field each time we use the template without the need to create manually the field each time. I think this is important also for fomula fields in general

Would like the ability to copy and entire checklist and paste it in another document. We can do it for tasks and subtasks but there is no way to copy an entire checklist for some reason. If we can paste a list into a checklist and have a function to make each line it's own checklist item, why can't we extract the already built checklist?

A warming to inform users that a task is currently being edited - this would prevent data loss if a team member wants to, for example, combine tasks - currently needing to delete one task and manually transfer everything from one to another, but if a task was being edited by another user at the time, that user's live inputs would be lost (ClickUp doesn't seem to cache unsaved edits).

We would like the ability to define and add custom “roles” as placeholders for assignees in task templates. As template creators, we should be able to decide what roles to add (for example: “QA Lead,” “Client Owner,” “Designer,” etc.). When applying the template, the user should be prompted to map each custom role to a specific person. All tasks with that role as assignee would then be automatically assigned to the mapped user. Benefits: Makes templates more flexible and reusable across teams and projects. Reduces manual reassignment of tasks after applying a template. Supports larger teams and cross-functional projects where roles change per project.

Dear ClickUp Team, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the removal of the Watchers/Follower functionality in ClickUp 4.0. In previous versions, it was easy to keep relevant team members informed about a task’s progress without assigning them full responsibility or control. The current system, which relies on @mentions or assigning users, is cumbersome and does not provide an efficient way to involve people who simply need to stay updated. Specifically, I would like to highlight these issues: There is no way to add “involved parties” to a task for ongoing notifications without making them assignees. Custom Fields for users do not trigger notifications or ongoing involvement. @mentions only notify users once, and do not keep them updated on future changes or comments. The lack of a Watchers/Follower feature makes it difficult to manage stakeholder communication and transparency. I strongly urge you to consider bringing back the Watchers/Follower functionality or introducing a new, streamlined way to keep people informed about tasks without assigning them or relying on repeated manual @mentions.

For most projects the D-Day is not the last task of a template list. Instead of remapping per start or due date, it would be nice having more granularity about the milestone or deliverable and not the last task of the list.

From Support: It would be nice if edits to our Views applied to previous versions. This would prevent us from needing to update hundreds of Templates manually in a larger organization.
