Feature Requests

A lot of times, it's hard to sense how far or close a project is to completion, based on the deadline. In video games, there are frequently a sense of measurement, so players can see how close they are to completion. This comparison, of "ideal progress" vs "actual progress" over time, is a major recommendation in the 4 Disciplines of Execution method from Franklin Covey - it gives teams and people a sense of positive urgency and motivation, to "reach the goal on time", and a clear sense of if they're on track or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP7sq_tGZj8 OKRs have similar goal tracking, but not every OKR software supports comparison of "ideal" to "actual" progress. I've seen only one goal and project software offer this feature - Profit.co - despite this feature being so powerful and valuable for improving progress and engagement on projects. This feature seems like a great opportunity for improved user interface, and a way to help ClickUp users feel more engaged in their projects - making them more productive, and more grateful for having ClickUp in their ecosystem.

I'm super impressed by the goals feature. I still made this topic to list some of the things that I noticed and I would think would make it potentially more powerful. Not yet sure if they are needed, just list them as I go. Allow owners to be linked to some people that can view a specific list. That way you make it automatic Allow to import tasks within a certain due date range, ideal for sprint planning. Allow to make this 'automatic' or 'import once', so you can make sure that things in the goals do or don't change automatically. Allow this to link even to project or space level, to get a top level view of progress in total. Allow to add lists to a goal afterwards I accidentally clicked some lists twice, allow to remove them in the selection and possibly block duplicate selections. Removing them now removes all occurrences of that list. When you add lists or tasks to e.g. a euro budget, I would make two progress bars. One for the target of money, one for the task target. That would feel more logical I think. When setting a target in value, allow to overshoot to see how well we did. Currently max value is the target value. Allow to add a task or list to a goal from the list or task itself. Add a burndown chart, comments (but I saw those are already planned in the video I think) Allow to monitor resources, as I consider this a 'bundle' of work. I would like to see an overview for each staff involved in this how many hours of estimated effort goes in Probably many more once we start using it :) Loving it so far! I think this is a great feature as it is.

We like the addition of Goals and being able to pull in specific action items into it. The only issue we have is that the UI and flow of the Goal section are somewhat inconsistent with the rest of ClickUp. We would appreciate it if they could be made consistent with the rest of Clickup.

For some goals, the Target is to spend a certain amount of time on the task. Examples include physical exercise, self-education, playing a musical instrument, etc. It would be nice to be able to set a Target related to the time spent on tasks and tasks lists.

On the goal view, it would be very helpful to see the progress of tasks that have subtasks or checklists when the target of a goal is expanded. Right now, if viewing a Target, there's no sense of progress, even if something is 99% done. This gives a false impression of no forward progress. Without this functionality, it also makes assessing a goal/target more difficult in a retrospective/post-mortem discussion without going to each individual task.

I think Goals also could benefit from being categorized with Custom Fields, alongside Lists. There is a feature request for lists here: https://clickup.canny.io/20/p/add-custom-fields-to-list-info And I just wanted to post this one to also express that Goals could benefit as well! You guys have really built out Custom Fields great so far for tasks, so adding to these "containers" across ClickUp would be super useful and powerful. Thanks!

from support: A way to see what goals or portfolio a list or task is part of from the main view and not going into the goals section. ideally anything that is part of a goal should get a label with the same goal name so we can easily see the epic it's associated with

i've seen this comment before in lots of different features which are limited by this "100 uses" model: It would be great if you limited the amount of elements instead. For example, having a maximum ammount of 4 goals simultaneously, or having a maximum of 2 Gannt/ Mind Map views interchangeable between the 5 spaces. This would highly increase free plan viability and a more profound exploration of this features that could more easily convince free users to upgrade to a paid plan.

Currently I have to click on an already defined task when I make goals. I would really like to be able to start from goals and add tasks and targets on their own. This works really well for folks who are using it solo or for personal productivity.

Goals by now are tracking only the completion of task, but most of the work is done by subtasks.
