The feature must allow support for activities that are not continuous, that is, the same task can be performed in blocks separated in time (paused and resumed) without requiring the creation of multiple duplicate subtasks, in order to maintain the visual clarity of the graphic and improve activity management. Desired behavior (core feature): A task with multiple execution intervals (segments): The task must allow recording 2, 3, 4... execution windows, each with its own start and end. Ex.: “Installation of metallic infrastructure” occurs in week 1, paused due to lack of material in week 2, resumes in week 4. This should remain the same task, only with segmented execution. Visual in Gantt with “broken” bar (split bar): In the Gantt, the task appears as a single line, with multiple bars/sections (segments) over time, representing pauses and resumes. I don't want to duplicate tasks/subtasks to show resumed tasks. Total window and actual effort separated: The task must have: Overall Start/End (total window): min (beginning of segments) and max (end of segments) Actual Work Duration (effort): sum of segment durations (actual work) Thus, I can see the macro deadline and also the actual execution time. Simple editing (UX) In Gantt, I should be able to: divide a segment (Split) into two drag just one segment to reschedule insert a gap (pause) without creating another task consolidate segments (merge) if necessary Status, managers, and notes by segment (optional, but ideal) Each segment could have optional fields such as: responsible/team -% completed of the segment reason for the pause (e.g. lack of material) segment notes The “mother” task consolidates general status and progress. Reason (current pain) Today, when interrupting and resuming an execution, I am forced to create new subtasks just to represent the second work interval. This creates a lot of duplication, visual pollution and makes it difficult to use the Gantt as a daily/weekly work management tool. Clear example: Task: “Installing Passage Boxes” Execution between week 3 and 4 of March, but with real segments in: Week 3: Monday and Wednesday Week 4: Tuesday and Friday In Gantt, I need to see 4 blocks in the same task, not 4 subtasks.
