Support for Integrating Microsoft Teams with Personal Accounts (Microsoft Account)
Current Issue: The current native integration between ClickUp and Microsoft Teams requires a corporate or student account linked to a Microsoft Entra ID tenant. Users who attempt to authenticate personal accounts (ex: @outlook .com) are faced with an access restriction error, since the ClickUp application does not allow this type of credential. Impact: Independent consultants, single-member companies (SLU), and small businesses that use the personal version of Teams are unable to take advantage of the integration. This requires the creation of complex contouring solutions (such as webhooks via Zapier/Make) just to receive basic task notifications. Implementation Proposal: Application Registration Update: Change the “Supported Account Types” settings in the Azure Application Registry of the ClickUp integration to include “Accounts in any organizational directory (Any Microsoft Directory Sign In) and personal Microsoft accounts (for example, Skype, Xbox)”. Reduced Permissions Flow: Create an alternative and lighter authorization scope for personal accounts, focused strictly on injecting messages into individual chats, dispensing with administrative tenant permissions that only corporate accounts have. Value for the Product: Increase the adoption and retention of users in the freelance and microenterprise segment that already operate in the Microsoft ecosystem, eliminating technical barriers to the centralization of communication.
