Feature Requests

We use lists to track summer maintenance periods, certain tasks may have been planned for that maintenance period but then get deferred to a later maintenance period and added to a new list. We don't want to transfer the tasks to the new list, just add them, but we don't want task updates on the new list to change the old list. Is there a way to lock/freeze an older list that shares tasks? Or even better, a way to view a list as it was on a past date using the extensive task history? If this is not planned, can we at least get the task history from the API so we can do this ourselves?

I'm a very visual person and I've already found a feature in other project/task management apps that I'd love to see in ClickUp. It's a progress bar based on the duration of the task (from start date to end date). I'd be really happy if this feature could be added to the list view. I'll give you a little more detail of what I imagine below. DESCRIPTION I suggest introducing a dynamic, time-based progress bar for tasks in ClickUp's list view. This feature would automatically calculate and visually represent task progress based on the start and end dates, providing users with an at-a-glance understanding of task completion status relative to its timeline. KEY COMPONENTS Auto-Calculated Progress: The progress bar would automatically update based on the current date relative to the task's start and end dates. Visual Representation: A colorful bar in the list view that fills from left to right as time progresses. BENEFITS ✓ Provides a quick visual indicator of task progress without needing to open individual tasks. ✓ Helps identify tasks that may be falling behind schedule. ✓ Enhances project overview by allowing easy identification of overall project progress. Complements existing manual and checklist-based progress indicators. USE CASES ✧ Project managers can quickly assess the status of multiple tasks in a project. ✧ Team members can prioritize their work based on task progress and deadlines. ✧ Stakeholders can get a clear picture of project advancement without diving into details. I believe this feature would significantly enhance ClickUp's task management capabilities, especially for users who rely heavily on timeline-based project planning and execution.

It would be nice to be able to set a default project/list when adding tasks. When I am working and an idea pops in my head that I want to quickly capture, I add it to an "Inbox" list that I will review later to move it to the appropriate place. The goal is to not lose focus on what I am already working on, so when I have to move to a different project & list or select these items from the Create New Task window, it is just more cumbersome.

It could be great to have the possibility to assign a list to a Group or at least to multiple people. Eg: Help Desk Team to be assigned to a list for support requests.

It would be great to see an automatic progress bar at LIST level so you can see a snapshot of task completion for an entire project (eg a list).

As a Product Owner, prioritizing tasks is crucial. Working on a list and identifying whether an item is deprioritized or not makes the "Move to Bottom" and "Move to Top" buttons very handy. Support has mentioned this was removed from 2.0, it would be nice to revive this feature. Cheers! Jops

Reordering works fine with tasks and first-level subtasks. With drag-and-drop, you can move the task depending on where the hierarchy bar appears: Bar all the way to the left → only changes the position in the list. Bar slightly to the right → changes the position but also nests it under the task above. The problem starts once you’re dealing with sub-subtasks (second level and deeper): The hierarchy bar does not react correctly to mouse movements. It often stays shifted, which makes the task nest under the wrong parent instead of just moving up or down. The bar itself is inconsistent, so the behavior feels unpredictable. In general, the hierarchy bar is buggy and does not respond properly to mouse movements. The only workaround is to use Cmd+Tab each time to remove them from the wrong parent and put them back at the correct level.

Would be great to add a pin icon next to each task, allowing you pin the task to the top of the list, regardless of the "Group By" selection/order. If there are multiple pinned tasks, they should be able to be manually re-ordered at the top of the list.

When task name begins with non unicode character, sorting by name puts it at the end of the list. I'm using Croatian language and letters like š,đ,č,ć,ž have their place in alphabet.

From support: It would be nice if we could merge Lists. You can select multiple tasks with the Multitask Toolbar, but this is less effective when your List is larger. Even selecting select all requires to load all tasks which can take a while.
