Feature Requests

Add custom fields and calculated fields (simple version ie: for math calcs only). I have many small business clients who are assigned all tasks. These people are often overwhelmed from using clickup like a bigger business would and after a while, they stop using it and don't renew. I set up a gamification concept, within the current limits of clickup eg: award points for tasks - and then I added an automation that 'adds' those points up when the task status is changed to complete. This incentivizes my clients to go into clickup regularly to update task statuses etc. With a couple of field changes to the goals section in clickup it would be converted into a 'leaderboard' that updates using automations

I'm super impressed by the goals feature. I still made this topic to list some of the things that I noticed and I would think would make it potentially more powerful. Not yet sure if they are needed, just list them as I go. Allow owners to be linked to some people that can view a specific list. That way you make it automatic Allow to import tasks within a certain due date range, ideal for sprint planning. Allow to make this 'automatic' or 'import once', so you can make sure that things in the goals do or don't change automatically. Allow this to link even to project or space level, to get a top level view of progress in total. Allow to add lists to a goal afterwards I accidentally clicked some lists twice, allow to remove them in the selection and possibly block duplicate selections. Removing them now removes all occurrences of that list. When you add lists or tasks to e.g. a euro budget, I would make two progress bars. One for the target of money, one for the task target. That would feel more logical I think. When setting a target in value, allow to overshoot to see how well we did. Currently max value is the target value. Allow to add a task or list to a goal from the list or task itself. Add a burndown chart, comments (but I saw those are already planned in the video I think) Allow to monitor resources, as I consider this a 'bundle' of work. I would like to see an overview for each staff involved in this how many hours of estimated effort goes in Probably many more once we start using it :) Loving it so far! I think this is a great feature as it is.

The dashboard function is okay, but it doesn't really do a lot for an individual / personal user like me. All the tasks are assigned to me, and no matter how I sort things out, I'm the only user and have pretty good visibility on everything. Goals, on the other hand, could be super-valuable for me if I had two or three things: The ability to quickly and easily relate tasks, spaces, etc. to goals. Pretty straightforward, but we need a way to associate items to specific goals without a hassle. This has already been requested. A way to make goals front and center so that I could get high-level visibility when I opened the app. I could use goals to keep a pulse on my personal and professional goals, but a default view that presented my goals to me when I opened the app would help me stay on target in a very in-your-face way. More interesting ways to display goal content. I'd love to see the ability to display goals as more than little squares. Charts, trend lines, scatterplots, etc. (especially with goal deadlines attached) would tell me how I'm doing and what my progress looks like over term. I think there's a lot of opportunity here. Right now, goal are just tucked away but they could help Clickup users very quickly get a handle on what's important from an operational perspective and run their projects and businesses accordingly.

When a goal is completed, show a celebration notification. something similar to in asana. may be show, a lot of party pop like animation on the entire app. for all members associated with the goal

I think Goals also could benefit from being categorized with Custom Fields, alongside Lists. There is a feature request for lists here: https://clickup.canny.io/20/p/add-custom-fields-to-list-info And I just wanted to post this one to also express that Goals could benefit as well! You guys have really built out Custom Fields great so far for tasks, so adding to these "containers" across ClickUp would be super useful and powerful. Thanks!

I think it would be super beneficial to have the ability to create main folders for our sub-folders to keep the goals organized more. For example, I have employees that all have four goals per 4 months, and now that we are 2 years into this process, I have 20+ folders roaming around my goals space that I have access to. I wish I could make a folder for the current year and drop all of the current employees into that folder so it is more organized with better "breadcrumbs". I'm not sure if this is a feature or not so I'm sorry if I'm repeating myself! :)

I'd like a way to visualize goals other than just the progress circle. A summary of this idea can be found at the bottom of the post. If you have ever built a puzzle, you can see your progress as the puzzle gets completed. I’d like for Clickup to create a visual of a goal with tasks/subtasks being the pieces that fill up the visual. Goal Visualization Shape The visual could be the shape of a jigsaw puzzle, but having a square shape that gets filled by smaller squares could work just as well. The size of the pieces could be dictated (calculated) by the time estimations of the individual tasks or by a numeric custom field. The custom field would be like the Scrum points idea for those familiar with the Agile approach. Squares are probably better for goal visualization. It’s easier to write/manage the code necessary for creating square shapes and you get a better visualization of progress with squares. Benefits This is an engaging way to monitor a goal’s progress and get a visual of how much of the goal is remaining. Longer or more complex tasks have bigger blocks that fill up the square goal container. Depending on how this is implemented you can have goals within larger goals. The largest goal (square) could be a company initiative. The smaller goals would be the targets to achieve that initiative. The smallest squares are the lists/tasks/subtasks. This makes goal setting and work more engaging. Summary Clickup creates a square as a visual container for a goal. To complete the goal you fill the big square with little squares. The little squares are the lists/tasks/subtasks you need to complete.

I use a series of monthly goals to help acknowledge our progress and set a medium-term horizon. I find that each month I consider the previous month's goals and then have to go and make a new set of goals without being able to reference the previous one. Often I want to roll over, or carry over, a goal which we are still working on. My goals are usually in the form of Tasks. It would make sense to me to add a Task selection option that lists (not-Done) tasks from a previous Goal (or all previous goals), rather than selecting from the list of all Tasks.

On the goal view, it would be very helpful to see the progress of tasks that have subtasks or checklists when the target of a goal is expanded. Right now, if viewing a Target, there's no sense of progress, even if something is 99% done. This gives a false impression of no forward progress. Without this functionality, it also makes assessing a goal/target more difficult in a retrospective/post-mortem discussion without going to each individual task.

Goals by now are tracking only the completion of task, but most of the work is done by subtasks.
