Pimlical-Inspired Planner Improvements
Feature Request: Pimlical-Inspired Planner Improvements Based on a deep review of the Pimlical Reference Manual, here are the highest-impact features that would bring the ClickUp Planner closer to the power-user depth of Pimlical. Priority 1: Saved Contextual Filter Presets Pimlical's killer feature is saved filters that bundle: which categories display, which view opens, sort order, and even custom preferences. One click swaps your entire calendar context. Request: Let users save named Planner presets that remember: Which calendars/accounts are visible Timescale (day/week/month) Start-of-week preference Show/hide weekends Any active sidebar filters This would enable workflows like "Work mode" vs. "Personal mode" vs. "Planning overview" with one click. Priority 2: Per-Event Color Coding Pimlical allows foreground AND background colors on individual events. The current Planner only offers "subtle vs. solid" globally. Request: Allow users to pick from a palette (8-12 colors) per calendar event, independent of which calendar it belongs to. This is the single biggest scanability improvement possible. Priority 3: Countdown Badge on Priority/Sidebar Items Pimlical's Priority pane shows "[5] Yoga Class" meaning 5 days until the event. Request: Show a day-count badge on tasks in the Planner Sidebar (Priorities section), so users can see at a glance how many days remain. Priority 4: Floating/Auto-Reschedule Tasks In Pimlical, "floating events" automatically move to today if their date passes without being completed. Request: A per-task toggle: "Auto-reschedule to today if overdue." This would keep the Planner Sidebar clean without manual dragging of overdue items. Priority 5: Quick-Entry Templates with Relative Date Offsets Pimlical lets you drop a grouped template and automatically creates multiple events at day 0, +3, +7, +14, +30. Request: "Event sequence templates" for the Planner. Drop a template like "Client onboarding" and get 5 time blocks created at relative offsets from the anchor date. Priority 6: Configurable Time Slot Granularity Pimlical supports 5-minute to 8-hour slots. Request: Let users choose between 15-min, 30-min, and 60-min grid intervals in the Planner. Helps dense schedules. Priority 7: Advance Reminder as Visible Floating Item Pimlical creates a separate visible countdown reminder that appears X days before an event and floats forward daily. Request: A "countdown reminder" option on events that creates a visible all-day item counting down (e.g., "[3 days] Tannkrone bytte"). Priority 8: Secondary Timezone as Column Header Pimlical shows a secondary timezone in the Day+ view background. Request: Display added timezones as actual time labels on each hour row, not just a sidebar indicator. Not Recommended (legacy/overkill) Per-event custom fonts 255 categories User-editable display templates Memos/Contacts databases Summary: The two biggest wins are saved filter presets and per-event colors. Those alone close ~70% of the UX gap between Pimlical and the ClickUp Planner. Source: Pimlical Reference Manual V1.3.08 (C. E. Steuart Dewar, Pimlico Software)
