Feature Requests

Many teams, including ours, structure their workspace using the model “1 project = 1 folder”, with lists representing major phases or areas of the project. The Timeline and Gantt views are perfect for high-level planning, but currently we can only place tasks on the Timeline. It would be incredibly helpful to have the ability to: Add Folders to a Timeline, Add Lists to a Timeline, Assign them a start date, due date, and status, Visualize them as high-level blocks on timeline (just like tasks), Manage project timelines from a true top-down perspective. This feature would significantly improve planning for agencies, managers, and any team handling multi-phase projects. We work with many clients during ClickUp implementations, and this is one of the most common requests - having a clean, high-level timeline of entire projects, not only tasks. Such functionality would make Timeline view far more powerful and would help ClickUp stand out even more as a comprehensive project management tool. Thanks for considering!

When using the timeline view you have to scroll left and right to find tasks that sit outside view. In the Gantt view, there are indicator arrows (left and right of screen) to indicate there are tasks outside of the view, and when you click them it scrolls to that task. These would be very useful to add to the Timeline View. See screen shot of the indicators from Gantt view we would like to see added to Timeline view.

We recently migrated from Asana to ClickUp and so far the engineering team loves it. However, as the product person who need to map out the timeline view of our high level roadmap for the next 12 months, the timeline view is really not cutting it for us since the monthly view is still too expanded. Can you please add a quarterly or more zoomed out view so we can see 12 months on the same page? The gantt chart view does not do it because we can't put separate items in the same lane. Attached are what we see in Clickup (mid migration) and what we would like to see and get in Asana.

Seeing tasks by week isn't helpful when a lot of people bill mont to month. Because projects take several months, it would be really nice to see them as monthly tasks so I don't have to manually add up each week. It's really difficult to figure out how much time was logged each month when the timer only shows a total for the entire project.

We should be able to see the priority flag in the timeline view on our tasks.

It seems so obvious, I wanted to see more of the timeline, but I could not make that left bar that holds the different groupings any smaller. I work more in Gantt charts, so the ability to resize and even hide the left panel seemed an obvious expectation. But the Timeline team have not checked notes with the Gantt team, so the products are mismatched in this respect. Please make it hideable - the whole point of the timeline is to see as much as possible from left to right.

Hi ClickUp Team, I’d like to request an improvement to the Timeline view regarding how subtasks are displayed. Currently, when subtasks are expanded, they appear as separate items and can end up far away from their parent task, especially if their dates differ. This makes it difficult to see the relationship between parent tasks and their subtasks at a glance. It would be very helpful if the Timeline view could visually group subtasks directly beneath or next to their parent task, similar to a tree or nested structure. This would improve clarity and make project planning much easier when working with complex tasks and subtasks. Thank you for considering this feature!

Could you please add the feature to add the week numbers to the timeline view?

I love the ability to zoom in on the Timeline view, and the light gray background is good, too. But I seem to have lost the highlighted weekends. Very helpful to be able to differentiate those and see weekdays v, weekends!
