Decision Roadmap - tasks that build out a template based on answers to questions
Summary: I'd like the option to turn a task into a "Decision Roadmap." The assignee answers a series of simple questions, and based on each answer, ClickUp automatically builds out the rest of the project from a template using if/then logic. The assignee just answers questions instead of filling in Custom Fields and relying on automations to react to them. The problem today: Right now, the closest way to do this is to create Custom Fields, then build separate automations that watch for each field value and add subtasks, checklists, or apply templates. This has several issues: It takes many automations to cover every possible path, and they are hard to build, test, and maintain. Automations run one at a time and don't handle follow-up questions well (for example, "If yes, ask this next question"). Assignees have to know which fields to fill in and in what order, which leads to mistakes. It's hard to see the full decision flow in one place, so changing it later is risky. Requested feature: Decision Roadmap builder A visual, flowchart-style builder inside task templates where we can set up questions and branches. Each question can be yes/no, multiple choice, a dropdown, a date, a number, or short text. Each answer can lead to a next question or to actions, creating if/then paths. Actions based on answers Add specific subtasks, checklists, or sections of a template. Skip or remove steps that don't apply. Set assignees, due dates, priorities, statuses, and tags. Fill in Custom Fields automatically from the answers. Apply a different template or add tasks to another List. Simple experience for the assignee The assignee sees one question at a time in a guided, step-by-step format (like a short form or wizard). Once they finish, the project is built out automatically with only the steps that apply. Answers are saved on the task so everyone can see why the project was built the way it was. Option to go back and change an answer, with the project updating to match. Why this matters: Replaces dozens of separate automations with one clear, easy-to-manage flow. Makes complex templates usable by anyone on the team, even if they don't know ClickUp well. Reduces errors, since assignees only answer questions instead of setting fields correctly. Keeps projects clean by only adding the tasks that are actually needed. Makes it easy to see and update the full decision logic in one place. Thank you for considering this. It would make our templates much smarter and save our team a lot of setup time.
