Use a Formula Field in another Formula Field
planned
Karl Heinz Frankeser
I feel link the formula field is really restrictive, I wanted to multiply all values by 5 and could not do that, also why can't I take a number field and add it to a formula field to nest two formula fields into one calculation?

Campo 1 (Dinheiro): Faturamento
Campo 2 (Dinheiro): Despesas
Campo 3 (Fórmula): Lucro R$ (Campo 1 - Campo 2)
Campo 4 (Fórmula): Margem de Lucro % (Campo 3 / Campo 1)

This is what I posted in the FB group. I hope this is covered in the formula overhaul 🤞🏻

Stay tuned for updates here - we are planning to tackle this in the next phase of Formulas improvements!

Caroline Ginty - when is that planned for? timeline?

Caroline Ginty This should be an extremely high priority, as one of a few issues with Clickup holding up adoption company-wide where I work, and this one missing feature in particular might lead to us dropping Clickup completely. I'm sure many other medium-sized companies have the same issues.
This and color coding columns/rows/cells are seriously the two things management obsesses about, and what stops us being able to persuade them from adopting it because "if it doesn't have basic features it must be trash".

The is a critical feature that is missing, I know Asana has this, and is leading me to considering switching over.

Please please please make this a thing. I'd use this everywhere. Thanks!

Workaround sometimes:
If the operation is fairly simplistic like
cell 1 (5) - cell 2 (3)= 2
And you want to bring in an additional variable like multiply by 5.
You can use longer strings of code in the formula field rather then calling the first formula field.
So it would look something like:
field("$ Amount Made")-field("$ Amount Spent")*5
In my situation I wanted to take
Amount Made minus Amount Spent = Actual Profit
Then
Goal Profit minus Actual Profit
Workaround looked like this:
(field("$ Amount Made")-field("$ Amount Spent"))-field("$ Goal")
The extra brackets protect your original calculation and then you run the second calculation after that.
So say I wanted to do that plus multiply the first calculation by 5 I could do it like this:
(field("$ Amount Made")-field("$ Amount Spent"))*5-field("$ Goal")
It's pretty standardized codes that work in here so if you can do it in excel you can likely do it in here, you just have to double embed the calculations.

Dani nice….. wonder if ClickUp Brain could do that for me…..

Dani helpful, thanks. Worked for me this time, but it can get messy if we are trying to get everything inside one column formula.

I don't get, why that's not already a thing 🙁

This would be HUGE in our use case for ClickUp. Wrike and many other platforms can do this...hoping this gets prioritized ASAP.

Esto deberia de poser ser una funcinalidad basica otros programas similares lo pueden hacer
