Subtask Columns Not Saving
planned
Paul Dittus
When I make changes to which Subtask columns I want to see in Task View 3.0 it doesn't seem to save those changes. So if I make changes and close the task, the next time I open it up I have to readd the columns desired (for example time tracking, time estimated, etc.)

Is it easier to giving us the ability to save as a Task template, like we create a task set everything we want including the subtask column, than save as a template & each time apply the template it come up exact like what we set.

Hi there Ivan Villa -- just checking in on this. I loved Ivan's demo, and it's working for me, but I would love to save these "Subtask Views" on a list level. It would also be helpful to move these columns around and resize them as needed! This is one of my top pain points currently.

No improvements in terms of applying the same structure for all subtask tables

Hey everyone, here's an update! We have added the ability to save columns, but it's currently only available for single tasks. We are still considering how we want to scale this feature. We can either make it configurable by task and allow batch updates, or have it automatically cascade down.
With the introduction of task types and our work on being able to set fields based on type, it's becoming a bit more complex. We apologize for the delay as we carefully think through it.

Ivan Villa: please show the example on how to do it

Ivan Villa: what tool are you using for that screencast. seemed like that zooming and panning and the mouse interactivity was built in.

Ivan Villa: generally having it cascade from task to subtask would save time (so long as we can still update subtasks and that the updated preference would save). I like the idea of having different task types automatically set with different preferences.
Just ran into today repeatedly where a task is duplicated and then the columns on each duplicated task needed to be updated. So I'd like to see duplicated tasks inherit the settings of the original.

Ivan Villa: Appreciate the update, thank you for taking the time to think this through.

Any update regarding this task?

Just echoing that this is still an issue. I thought it had been resolved, but working today it's super clear that while my newly added columns are saved, the removal of other "default" columns are not.

We are working on a fix here!

Ivan Villa: awesome 😎 thanks for the update.

Ivan Villa: This one might be related or tangent to one that I had submitted where it doesn't seem to keep the preference when a column is added in a sub-task when going from task to task. Is that something that is planned to be addressed as well?
