Split tasks - multiple task schedules / allocations on the timeline
building now
Gamba (BW)
It's very common that some tasks may take a long time to complete, and in that period they might be interrupted or paused by some circumstance, and resumed later.
Right now, there isn't a comfortable way to visualize this, because having the task split in two or more separate tasks might lead to redundancy in it's descriptions, checklists, etc.
Having an insanely long task all over a Gantt diagram isn't optimal either, specially when it was really worked on 50% of it's declared time.

Split tasks in workload

Like in "ForeCast", I would like to be able to split tasks in the workload view, so that a task that aren't ongoing will be split more accurately on the timeline.

Switching from beta to building now because we are postponing the beta with a few weeks. Still this is a top priority and we'll bring it very soon! Stay tuned.

When working on this request, please include the other request here as well as they are very related with each other. https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/work-scheduling-with-timeslots-intervals-for-all-day-tasks

Fellow ClickUppers, I have exciting news to share with you!
We’re getting ready to beta test this feature
Multi-Interval Task Scheduling
— split one task into multiple time blocks
(each with its own start/end) so work that starts, pauses, and resumes stays in one
task. No extra subtasks, better capacity signals.T

Hi Vasil Enchev - any update on the progress of this one, please?
Vasil Enchev
James Gardener: few more weeks 4-6 and we'll have the beta ready, we have paused the development until work by day (unequal time distribution) is shipped. Then the work will resume.

I'm looking forward to this update! My team would use this in the calendar view the most. They want to be able to time block out their projects that have multiple steps, so they can see that they need to work on it on Monday, follow up with some items on Wednesday, and wrap it up the following Monday. Having the ability to place a task on multiple days would create some ease and more accuracy with capacity planning.

We hugely need this feature as a priority. We have a very start/stop industry so need to easily reflect the gaps that could be filled with other tasks

Exited to move this to planned as it will allow a lot of new workflows for ClickUp and true resource management.

Split task in timeline view

When in timeline view, it would be great to be able to split a task so that you can accommodate PTO and Office Closure easily. Or, maybe right click and duplicate the task so you can drag and drop it where you need it after the PTO time.

Split task - Ability to have multiple task schedules/allocations

The “Split Task” functionality, as the name describes it, allows the possibility to interrupt work on a task, due to cases such as an unplanned event or even a task reprioritization, you can split the task so that part of it starts later in the schedule.
