Google Calendar V2 Ideas
in progress
Cassiano Campes
I just started using the new integration with Google Calendar.
However, I have noticed that when we set a deadline in a task in ClickUp, the Google calendar shows the deadline in a little bit weird form. The task starts from midnight ending on the deadline of that day.
Would be better if it was 1 hour instead of starting from midnight.
I am attaching the screenshot of what I am talking about, and with the suggestion that could be better for visualizing the deadlines on Google Calendar.
I hope you can understand what I mean.

Hey community - how's your day going?
Ricardo here, I lead the calendar team at ClickUp.
Wanted to let you folks know that we're just about ready to start slowly onboarding some new folks into the new calendar beta. Exciting times!
We've setup a waitlist form, so please join here.
We're prioritising folks and opening new slots each week.
It's early days and this is very much a beta - but from all I can read from your comments below - I have no doubt that with your help we'll make it the best calendar experience out there.

I don't actually want my deadlines taking up time on my calendar, because that prevents people from being able to book meetings at days/times that I'm actually available... especially if I've accomplished a given task already.
I would however really like events and meetings to show in both Clickup and my google calendar. I find the current integration pretty frustrating.

Zeb Come on Clickup get this Calendar situation figured out already! The amount of requests that have been produced in the last couple years just related to the calendar syncing feature is ridiculous it's like you guys just don't care and it's an important feature for business management! There are Thousands of Votes!!! 😫

Hey Frank Filippelli 👋 Stepping in for Zeb here. As you may know, ClickUp acquired Hypercal (a next-gen calendar) earlier this year and the team here is incredibly excited and hard at work to bring all the next-gen features you'd expect to ClickUp. This should happen in the next few months with an earlier beta test happening soon. I very much care personally that you and all others think ClickUp has the best calendar experience on the planet. A huge part of that is listening to you and our customers - so you'll be seeing a lot more from me here. Thank you for holding me and all of us to a higher standard, let's fix it.

Ricardo Clerigo One thing I dont think has been mentioned is the ability to set "activities". An activity could be "check Facebook Ads for all clients". Underneath that activity is several task such as "check facebook ads for client b", "check facebook ads for client z". Ideally I would be able to tie those tasks together with that activity in a nice and easy way. We all know that working in time blocks or themes makes you more productive. But that stuff is quite hard in clickup.
Ricardo Clerigo
Mads Ellegård: Noted. Having a time block to work on several tasks (an activity) does indeed makes a lot of sense and matches how I work too!

Ricardo Clerigo Thanks. Would be truly amazing if this feature would be part of clickup. Stuff like that is needed in order to go from being just a project mangement tool, to being also a personal productivity/efficiency tool.

Ricardo Clerigo Thank you so much for acknowledging this issue and responding to the problem 🙏 I feel Clickup has had a lot of potential for many years now and it's just missing the mark in very minor ways. If you guys really start focusing on the issues that matter first, then this app will be much more useful to us businesses and Clickup will be unstoppable. I don't even mind if we need to pay more as long as all of these silly little issues are resolved so the app can be the great productivity tool it was always meant to be. Thank you for all your hard work and we will be watch for the progress that was promised 👍

Ricardo Clerigo You wouldn't believe how much such status updates do us good and keep us happy. Our team uses all kinds of additional tools to try and keep the dates clean. We are even considering using morgen.so, onecal.io, vimcal or even fantastical to give us a better overview of the REALLY IMPORTANT appointments and tasks. CU is brilliant at managing large projects. But what CU currently does VERY poorly is keeping track of personal appointments and all the good hints you can find here in Canny. When I read that you are working hard on it and that there will soon be a beta version, then that keeps us happy. More of this please. And please, please, please: We need an ingenious and FAST connection to the mobile app. Our team will never create a project in a Gantt view on a mobile basis. Maybe look at it, but nothing more. What we absolutely need: a calendar that is blazingly fast and reliable. The current calendar view in the mobile version is just exhausting.

Ricardo Clerigo we very much liked clickup purchased hypercal but please keep it inside clickup view only don't open it outside clickup just like notion it should be inside view page only it should not open a external on different outside like notion eg if i am on list view and i want to move to calender it should move to calender with all the hypecal features inside it so there is consistency we don't want to move outside the clickup view page why ? because of focus because if i want move to any things in clickup i can move to it i wanted to move to it please build hypcal feature inside clickup calender application not outside like notion
Ricardo Clerigo
Samuel Schneider: 100% agreed. Fast and reliable are key to earn trust from folks that want to use a daily tool like calendar. We think we've managed to find a way mix tasks + calendar events that's going to blow your mind! Stay tuned.
Ricardo Clerigo
Sam: 🫡 it will be deeply embedded within ClickUp and not a separate app.
Samuel Schneider
Ricardo Clerigo sounds interesting:)

Being able to integrate calendar events into workload planning would be stellar

I'd to see subtasks assigned to me with a due date in my gcal!

This might be too much to ask, but I'd like to to see Clickup AI function like usemotion.com and reclaim.ai - I already have my tasks in clickup and it's already connected to Google calendar... it should be able to schedule my tasks. Right now I manage my tasks in Clickup, but I want Clickup to manage my tasks FOR me...

Ability to schedule same tasks on multiple days

How far along are we on this feature?

I want the ability to exclude certain lists and/or folders from syncing with google calendar and then adding those excluded lists to sync with another calendar.
Second part of the request can be achieved by creating multiple integrations but it would be a lot better to directly include or exclude multiple lists/folders.
