Pascal Kuratli I second this. our firm uses Google Workspace and I absolutely hate google chat. I can rant on it a while, but the point is, i hope they make this have a slack or discord like chat and communication system. I would absolutely love it if there were options to have community channels like discord that let you post things on different topics in a simplified forum like way. Google chat's Spaces are basically no different than a group chat other than having collected files and tasks. In a lot of cases, if your making a "space" for something, your looking to organize a variety of content and resources for a group to work together. Yes a running chat is great in that, but it needs to also offer ways to have topic based communication and multiple channels. If you just want a simple chat with a group of people then a simple group chat will suffice. Sorry, I said I could rant on about google forever haha.

Joshua D'Antonio: I think they are waiting to fix this because they are considering redoing chat entirely to compete more closely with slack/teams/etc. Meaning tweaking this design is sort of a waste. It's planned in a sense of they are planning to fix the problem, but probably not in the way you imagined.
