Unfortunately, only the channel name appears in bold when there is an unread message, which is difficult for me to notice. It would be much better if it could be styled like Slack, where all channels, including direct messages, are clearly indicated.

Often there are messages in the chat of a channel but we don't know how many messages are unread by us. Displaying a count of the unread messages and mentions next to each other (with different colors) can help us identify the chat's priority as well.

Unread messages in Chat are typically indicated by a pink marker.
Unread messages in Channels are typically indicated by a bolded channel name.
This guarantees missed messages on channels.
We need a pink marker on channels too.

It's not clear where the messages are coming from. All channels are the same, whether there are new, unread messages or old ones. In Slack, everything was much more intuitive and simple! Please bold the channels with unread messages!! It's such a fundamental feature for a chat!

I'm going to close this as we already support showing badges when mentions occur within a channel and also bold the name when regular comments happens!

It’s about the Badge Count. In Slack and WhatsApp the Channel Badges are also for unread messages.
Unread messages have a Badge Count with Numbers, depending how many unread messages. Mentions have a Badge Count with an @ .

Is this about the badge count or the level of font bold'ness?
Slacks channel names are nice and THICK, and I agree that we can do better on that.
Channel badges are only for mentions.

Philipp Berner better to keep them always. if somebody missed notification its really hard to find it later.
