Support Guests Within Chat
in progress
Gordon Johansen
As a retailer using clickup for management only, we have a few business plus accounts and lots of options to add guests. Most retail staff do not need clickup as it is overkill for their purposes, so we use the free version of Slack for quick communications. It would be great if we could get all of them into using clickup chat instead and thus ease them slowly into seeing the advantages of it for other purposes.

chat availability
Steve Mussell
hi. I think the new chat should be available to everyone in our team even if they are a guest. Of course its nice for me if this is the case but I think you would create a huge buzz if you allowed that and eventually more members would be added to each team. Now I can only use chat to talk to some of our team but I can't include others who are only guests. its not going to work very well for me and to make everyone a member is too pricey-
We are a team of 30 our turnover is about 600k but our costs are high being in the highly taxed UK so profit is low. we can't spend £12 on 30 users so some will be missed out making Chat a bit useless.

Hey, Steve Mussell! There is an in progress feature request for this so I'm going to merge this! The product manager will keep the request updated with the progress!

It would be very important to be able to have guests in the chat. Because some who need to be there are not part of the company. They just need to have the space to be able to communicate with the team in an integrated way. No more needing to use Slack.

This is definitely necessary in order to replace Slack. Would be great to be able to create a channel with a couple of guests so I could enable quick chats with clients as well. Lots of use-cases.

Guest Access to the Chat Work Feature
Pedro Itallo
Dear ClickUp team,
First of all, congratulations on the launch of the new “chat work” feature. This feature has the potential to significantly improve communication and collaboration within teams.
However, as a frequent user of the platform, I would like to suggest an improvement that I consider essential to ensure the success of this feature: allowing external and internal guests access to chat work. In many projects, not all collaborators are active members of the ClickUp team. We have partners, freelancers and clients who need to participate directly in communications, and the current limitation preventing the inclusion of these guests in chat work creates a significant barrier.
Why this is important:
Many competitors such as Slack and Microsoft Teams already offer this functionality.
Guests play key roles in various projects and their inclusion in chat work would facilitate communication without the need to resort to external tools.
With the flexibility to include guests, ClickUp can consolidate itself as a central tool, eliminating the need for multiple communication systems for different collaborators.
I hope that this suggestion will be considered to further improve the platform and make it more competitive in the market.
Sincerely, Pedro

Just wanted to add a note – I was testing on mobile (iOS) today and was able to tag and DM guests in chat. When I went back to desktop, those guest DMs were available, but it doesn't seem you can start a new guest DM on desktop.
