Support Guests Within Chat

As a retailer using clickup for management only, we have a few business plus accounts and lots of options to add guests. Most retail staff do not need clickup as it is overkill for their purposes, so we use the free version of Slack for quick communications. It would be great if we could get all of them into using clickup chat instead and thus ease them slowly into seeing the advantages of it for other purposes.

Transparently, we were hoping to have guests able to access Chat in this week's release, but we missed that timeline.
We're working very hard to ship it next week or the week after, and will update you all when that's done!

Thanks for the update, and I appreciate the transparency regarding the timeline for guest support in Chat. However, I wanted to share some feedback from our experience as we're currently in the middle of a migration from Slack to ClickUp Chat.
We started this process assuming guest access to Chat was already available, and unfortunately, realizing it isn’t has left us in a challenging situation. Right now, some of our users are still on Slack while others are using ClickUp Chat, and this is causing a significant communication bottleneck within our organization, especially with clients.
This limitation is creating inefficiencies and confusion, and we're urgently looking forward to this feature being rolled out. If there’s any way to expedite or even provide a beta release of this functionality, we’d greatly appreciate it.
Thanks again for keeping us updated, and we’re eager to see this feature go live soon!

Jason Hsieh: Hey, Jason. Thank you for the feedback, and I want to apologize for the confusion! Chat itself is still in active development and the majority of our team is rallying behind getting guest support out the door.
We're still on track to launch this week, so hold on tight!

If you run some sort of an agency, then you use the Guest role quite a lot.
Currently, if I'm not able to speak to a guest in the chat, it doesn't make any much sense.
It would've been super helpful cause then I really can kill apps like slack and such.

Hello! I want to know if you guys plan to give guest access to Chat in the browser or desktop app. Because yes i as the owner created everything and if the folder or list has a guest 1 i can include guest 1 into that channel of chat. But guest 1 can only access via mobile not via their laptop using clickup app or browser. thanks!

Being an agency owner I work with 5-10 different freelancers a month- I got SO excited to see you had the chat function only to be disappointed again when it was not open for guests. I have the business pro and there is no way I can afford paying for 5-10 business pro accounts to use the chat.

Fabian Mendoza: Hey, there! This Canny feature request is about getting guest users access to Chat, but specifically guests who are already part of Workspaces with access to ClickUp Chat.
We're continuing to give access to more and more Workspaces through to the end of the year!

That's understood, my opinion is that prioritizing the roll out of ClickUP Chat or any new feature for that matter to Workspaces should be prioritized before announcing enhancements to these features. It leaves customers feeling left out. Thanks again. Can't wait until our Workspace is granted access.

Soon you'll be able to Chat with guests in your Workspace on the locations (and soon to be locationless Chats) that you can create!
