Archive Channels
planned
Honey
It would be nice if we can archive chats to retain the historical conversations (messages and files are still searchable). We have just migrated from slack and we had a ton of channels there that we don't need anymore because we will try to utilize the Clickup tasks activity section, however we would like to have those channels archived so that we can go back to old discussions, what were the decisions made and if there were important files shared. Great to limit this option to the owner and admin users also. Thanks!

Archive chats (for all followers)

We'd love to archive chats. When a person archives a chat, that chat should automatically be archived for all chat followers as well and disappear from their chat sidebar.

Would really like to see this! If lists, tasks, etc. can be archived, this seems like a logical next step.

Would you like the ability to archive a Channel while keeping the parent List unarchived? Or always archive a Channel together with its List/Folder/Space?
Rebecca Lambert
Brendan W Maybe we could have the option for either, but I would say defaulting to both being archived seems logical, so maybe the standard should not allow it to be unarchived. I feel indifferent I suppose for this. Thank you for asking for clarification!

Brendan W Voting for both options - to be able to keep the list/ folder/ space or archive both right away when they are both no longer needed. When we started out, we created locationless channels and our members utilized chats tied to folders and lists as they were there by default, so it was chaotic to track. We are still using the lists and folders but we would like to archive or merge the chats/ channels that was unintentionally used. Thanks!

Honey: Thanks for the feedback! If you wanted to keep the List lets say, is deletion of the Channel an acceptable solution? As it sounds like your case was an accidental creation/use of a Channel.

Would be great if the channel archived when the list is archived. Our current workflow archives lists when a project is closed. We would like the same for the Channel to reduce clutter

Archivist chats

I currently manage a large number of chats associated with project lists that are no longer in use. Although lists and folders can be archived without problem, chats remain active and there is no way to sort them or remove them from view. It would be very useful to have the option of archiving chats or having a specific section for archived chats (so that they remain accessible, but without taking up space in the main workflow). This would help maintain organization and reduce visual noise on a daily basis.

Ability to Archive Chat Channels

I believe it would be beneficial to implement the ability to archive chat channels as an alternative to deletion. Since these chats contain concentrated, topic-specific communication, archiving would allow the communication history to be reviewed when needed and ensure that important records are preserved.

Automatically unfollow chats for archived hierarchy locations

Example: we have a chat associated with a Folder. If the folder gets archived, the chat will still remain followed by people and show up in their sidebar.
I believe it would be best if chats get unfollowed automatically for any archived locations.

We'll be working to improve this soon!
