A very interesting idea! We use ClickUp as a ticketing system (among other uses) and incoming emails generate a lot of duplicates to be merged.

This would allow me to correctly import my JIRA comments to separate linked tasks which have individual permissions for staff & clients. Sadly the lack of the merge function in the API blocks me with this.
