Voice to task on mobile

Yay! As someone with ADHD, I often have countless ideas but little patience for typing them out. On top of that, I sometimes experience joint pain and migraines, which make texting a real challenge—especially with the brightness of a screen. This makes ClickUp's accessibility features such a game-changer for me!

Working on this!

Joey Please have it SAVE the voice note, so we can listen back to it if needed (especially useful if it got something wrong or missed something). I would suggest saving it in the comments area if you create a Task, but flagging that it was not a comment ON the Task but for the creation OF one.
Also, please have it CONFIRM the steps it will take before it takes them.
Also, please can you make it work offline? I.e., when back online, it will do the actions. So many times I cannot do anything on ClickUp mobile because I have bad signal or am offline. So I want it to save the voice note, then act on it when I am back online. Or pop-up a prompt when I am back online and ask if I want those things actioned still.

Guy Mannerings Agree - especially for things where we need some governance and risk management eg, client tasks where we need proof we instructed click up to do a task XYZ way - if it interprets it wrong and a team member executes it wrong, based on the interpretation, we have some idea of the COC where the incident/issue took place at which step.
In addition my signal also sucks so this is great.
Joey
Shelby Jansen & Guy Mannerings: Thanks folks! I will add these requirements to my product spec! I am not sure if we will be able to do it offline because we want to use very solid natural language and that may require external APIs, but I will talk with engineering about it.

Joey Great!
Re: Offline. It's not so much that it needs to process it while offline - it's more that it needs to be put in a queue while you are offline, and then can process when you are back online.
I.e., I still want to be able to make the voice note whilst offline, even if it can't process it yet.
Then, when you are back online, it can either do it automatically or ask if you still want to do it (maybe a setting).

I fully agree that being able to create tasks via voice commands is an evolution we expect from ClickUp, and I would find it extremely useful as well. Implementing this feature effectively is not a trivial task.
In my opinion, we can contribute to this development. What are the key elements I need when I’m on the move and want to use that moment to create a task vocally? We have many options and customizations available.
We shouldn’t expect it to be capable of doing absolutely everything, just as we wouldn’t expect a human assistant to execute every task flawlessly. Instead, I believe we should delve deeper into this topic and identify the specific functionalities that would truly meet the needs of power users—like many of us here.
Perhaps I’m stating the obvious or something unnecessary, but when I imagine interacting with ClickUp via voice, I envision a step-by-step LLM-powered voice interface. For example:
• The user could activate ClickUp by saying, “Up ClickUp” or “StandUp ClickUp.”
• ClickUp could respond with “I’m up for you,” presenting some options such as:
• Create a task
• Send a chat message to…
• Go to Space
• And more.
Today, we expect voice interfaces to respond to anything, and we’re getting closer to that goal. However, I believe we should start by considering that while building a voice interface is easy, making it effectively meet all user needs is challenging.
ClickUp is special, and I was one of the first to introduce it to our Italian company a few years ago when it was still only in English. I believed in the project, and the language barrier was never an issue.
I trust that this voice interface will become a reality, developed with the contributions of top professionals who use ClickUp extensively.

Yep. We should be able to use AI to tell ClickUp to create a task with whatever properties in a certain location.
Or create a note, etc.

I suggest making a widget that will open a new task and automatically start voice-to-text. That way, when you are driving, you only have to hit one button to capture a new task. The personal list would be default list, but it would be nice to be able to set your own.

I love love love clickup and try to avoid using anything else if possible. But this is a big miss currently. Reluctantly, I’ve ended up downloading other apps like Brief Mind for capturing tasks and notes by voice. Brief Mind goes further than simply allowing tasks to be dictated by Voice, and also uses AI to summarise them. Would love to have something similar in Clickup, combining voice and AI for greater efficiency. For example If you try to create a task you already have on clickup it should tell you you already have it or that you have something similar. Or if you make it listen to a whole meeting the AI should be able to summarise the actions agreed in the meeting and create tasks for them.

I'd like to add this is - the functionality of voice typing inside documents and task description would be amazing. If Google docs has it built in, why not here??

Or even normal voice todo is also workable. and helpful for non-native english speaker too.

Thanks for the request!! Have you seen any other apps do this well for inspiration?

Joey: Really simple one but Google Keep enables you to create lists and manager them with voice

I tried out ClickUp a few years ago but your Android app didn't have shortcuts yet. I just saw that you all have a couple of amazing Android shortcuts now for adding a task and a reminder. As well as the great Siri option.
One request I have is if you could make an alternate voice input shortcuts (add reminder by voice and add task by voice) for each of the task and reminder Android shortcuts.
The app I currently use that does it very well is MyLifeOrganized. Both their Android and iPhone apps have great shortcut options including calling the Google assistant and iOS shortcuts when activating the shortcut to parse natural language dates and times.
ClickUp would be my absolute dream app if you would be able to implement those alternate voice task and reminder shortcuts for iPhone and Android.
One of the great aspects about ClickUp making the two Android shortcuts that you currently have available is that I can launch them from anywhere in Android using a launcher (including a hardware button [us
ing Button Mapper app]--just amazing. I use a single press of the Bixby button and it's so convenient to add a task by voice without even having to unlock the phone). Double or triple back taps to launch shortcuts on the iPhone are also very convenient.
MyLifeOrganized have free and one time purchase licenses for the Android and iPhone apps but I would be happy to switch over to your monthly subscription since you have apps on more platforms especially with these shortcuts you now have.
Here are the links to the two apps:
Sorry for the long message. I hope it helps with some app/shortcut/voice inspiration.
Thank you so much for your awesome work!
