Links on mobile should open in default browser, or app if you have it (e.g. open Figma app if you have it)

When I tap links within the clickup app on iOS it opens in Safari within the app, even though my default browser is not Safari. Links should be opened in the default browser.

Unfortunately, when I create a bookmark task from my desktop, it embeds the link into the task title. I can open the link directly in the web browser on desktop but in the mobile app, the link appears as plain text and I have to copy and paste the link into the web browser. 😞

We pushed an update a few weeks ago and have gotten positive support that this is working well. Now all links from ClickUp mobile will open in your web browser.

Through a longer email conversation with ClickUp support, I learned, that this is dependent on the device model (at least for Android). For me it is a total blocker as I cannot access my work content from mobile. What could be a quick task (e.g. approve a design in Canva on the go) is becoming a blocker. Just because design principles of the mobile platform are completely ignored. Seeing this issue open for years makes me wonder if ClickUp is really focusing on productivity.

This really needs more attention and shouldn't be seen as a feature request but more as a bug report. In our case, our field staff, who heavily rely on the application, are facing significant challenges that are severely hampering our workflow. The browser embedded within the ClickUp application is riddled with bugs and lacks essential features. I strongly suggest that you provide us with the option to open links within the app using the standard browser or an external one, at least until the compatibility issues with ClickUp's internal browser are resolved.
We understand the desire to promote the use of the application, but it's crucial to prioritize functionality and enhance ClickUp's usability across a variety of workflows. I recommend temporarily allowing users to disable the internal browser within the app. This would greatly improve the overall user experience and ensure smoother operations for our team.

Opening the website (URL) custom field on mobile devices in the standard browser instead of using the ClickUp application.

There are several deficiencies and issues when opening certain links from the URL custom field on mobile devices. For example, we include some of our website forms in the URLs to perform complex actions. However, when the form is being filled while the webpage is opened within the ClickUp app, it is not possible to upload files. Additionally, when the screen rotates, it clears the cache and resets the page, resulting in the loss of all filled-in fields. I believe it is better to always open URLs from the URL custom field in the standard browser of the device to prevent such unwanted behavior.

Always use external browser for mobile links
I think the external browser is the way to go. I think this was improved in v2 mobile, but it has reverted to the internal browser in v3, so I'm calling it a bug.

Yes this whole thing is insanely annoying. There's all sorts of very weird behavior too, like embeds not opening, or opening and not loading, not being able to use the back button on the phone to navigate out of a link that opens in the weird in-app browser that forces you to log in and won't take your auto fill, etc etc.

Disable/Improve In-App Browser on Android
Recently, web links began opening an in-app browser on Android. It's... Not great. At least from my perspective. I think it's only been a feature for a few days, and already, I've run into the following issues:
- you can't open HTTP links; the ClickUp app won't open anything that's not using TLS, and there's no way to pass on to HTTP, like in a mobile
- deep linking doesn't work. If the link is a Facebook link (as an example), it opens the login page on Facebook. It should instead open the mobile app, which is already authenticated. Why would you ever want to open an unauthenticated Facebook session when clicking on a Facebook link?
- there's no way to copy embeded links, or bookmarked links or custom field links (so you can paste them in your mobile browser manually). Long-pressing on the links does nothing; standard Android UI practice is to open a context menu that usually includes copying a link, or opening it in a relevant app.
This applies to custom field links, links or URLs in comments, and text URLs, bookmarked links, and embeds in descriptions and docs.
I propose either disabling the in-app browser, giving users the option to disable it, or improving it immensely. Since there are other features that are more critical to roll out then this one, I think the best option is just to disable this feature, and let the Android OS and mobile browsers do what they already do well.

Choose how links open
Allana Robinson
It would be really great if you could choose a setting so that links in tasks open up directly in Safari or their native app on mobile. Like links to FB posts open the FB app vs loading in a ClickUp browser, then to open it in the app you have to open it in Safari and then open the app from there. Too many clicks.
