Improve Mobile Task view structure: Make action items more clear, make it easier to comment

Right now, you have to scroll on EVERY task to see if there are subtasks, checklist items, and assigned comments.
There is nothing telling you that a task has these right away.
This is a huge problem for subtasks, which get missed easily.
On 2.0, there was the bar at the bottom that told you if there were subtasks, assigned comments, and checklist items.
Removing this has meant things get missed easily.

Small suggestions to improve:):
- Show Dependencies and Linked Tasks like Fields and Attachments, rather than small ones like Priorities and Tags
- Remove the Add-SubTask and Add-Item buttons from the main view (condensed and expanded), put them only in the full-screen views. That will make room.
- On the other hand, put an “expand” button for Fields, Attachment, Subtask and Check-list directly on the main page? This would allow you to have a quick overview, without having to make 3 clicks and a round trip, and dedicate the full-screen views to details and actions, while the main view will be dedicated just to quick and visual navigation.
- I think that the “Jump to” button is useless, since there are already the shortcuts at the top: Details, ToDos, Updates, assigned contents. Or maybe only make it appear when the main view is very busy?
Personal remarks:
- I would tend to put the Item Type (Task, Project, etc.) with the Status, (next to Priority, Date, Tag, etc.).
- I prefer to have the TODOs before the Details. Will it be possible to choose the order of the menus?
Otherwise great!
The mobile app is improving but is lagging behind the web and desktop app, and especially the editing of Descriptions and Documents which is not great.
Please leave the AI race aside a bit (be smarter, and watch out for the speculative bubble that will burst in less than 1 year according to my estimates), and instead consolidate the rest that makes ClickUp a REALLY different and solid tool!

Joey Overall I really like this new look. Like Mat Aub was onto, I would like to see a button to expand the task description, like others already have, such as fields and checklists.
When an update occurs in the task, is the Update tab the only one that will have a small notification dot to its left as in the prototype, or will any other of the tabs get it too? I feel it may be redundant with the "1 new comment" pill just above it.
Will it be possible to tap on the Task status, assignees etc to either change or view them?
Otherwise I really like the new look, nice work!

If you can pull up your design side by side with this list you'll get the most out of it.
If that's possible, please consider the following:
I have some sugesstions I feel strongly enough about to share:
1- The visibility of the Asignees is needlessly sacrificed by forcing them into the shadow box. They should grow to at least the verticle dimension of said box. (It will help.)
2- The L & R padding in those shadow boxes is costing valuable spacing. I'd reduce it by half or more. (I'm reffering to the grey boces that things like the date and such are encapsulated in.)
3- Being set on the order of whats shown is costing valuable space. Just putting the two time-based data points on the top line will likely remove the need for a 3rd line in many instances (especially without tags appled)
4- The padding L & R of the entier data set (The left of the IN PROGRESS block and the like) is one of the biggest offenders. I'd cut that down by likely over 60%.
5- It is worth considering moving the "Details To-dos 5, Updates 1" menu, as WELL as the 1 New Comment, to the base of the screen.
This will make the interface not only more pleasurable to use by putting it close to a user's thumb, but will succingly contribute to ClickUps very mission....to give people back their time, because reaching for the top of giant phone screens VS a thumb-reach menu at the bottom is a Thumb War that the thumb NEVER loses.

6- I would then remove the Assignees' grey box, and let assignees live in the top blue bar. AND grow them to be the size of the transparent pill they live in. (They are currently unrecognizable, likely so even to those familiar with their team member's avatars.) There will be plenty of room up there for them
I'd consider putting the due date up there (It's whats most important) followed by the asignees.
7- If you make the above suggestions, you’d then have:
IN PROGRESS, 🚩High, 45m & 4HR all on ONE line.
Blocking and tags on the line below.
Set that entire section to expand on long press to show any additional tags.
Long-press on the time to log time.
8- I'd then consider keeping with the desktop versions' coloration of new Chat messages, and color the icon (Now lovingly living at the bottom of the screen!) when there are new messages, and showing a number for the number of new messages.
Details, To-dos 5, Updates 1 and Comments (not new, just comments the color will indicate, and you'll save space) all will have ample room, and be lightning quick to access.
9- Your headers in the Task ACTIONS page (Collaborate, Organize, etc...) are all smaller than the body that follows them. I'd fix that. And I'd also make each section look like a rounded card like the main page, with everythign behind them blurred… maybe some liquid glass action.
10- On all of the pages, I would increase the contrast a bit.
11- I'd move Brain to the left (easier to reach for the majority of the populous (right-handers) given it is more useful, AND can and likely will be used for search, and I'd more the search Icon to the right. (Which, if you use the same icon will better frame things as it leans toward the center.
12- I'd center justify the text in the Add a comment field, and I'd Title Caps it:
"Add a Comment"
13- If possible, I'd give the users the ability to edit the page by dragging sections up or down. (Perhaps not all, pin some and give the rest over to the user to decide what order makes them happiest.

This is honestly pretty nice! I like it!
Feedback:-
- Choose order of items (Subtasks First, Checklists next, Custom Fields) - like we can right now.
For me, Subtasks HAS to be number 1, then Checklists. Custom Fields are by far the least important of anything in a Task for me (they are generally reactive, whereas Subtasks need to be acted upon and so not missed), yet CU always priorities putting them first. Subtasks are likely most people's important part, yet get pushed down.
- Does "Keep Field Expanded" work for EVERY Task as a default, or just THIS Task? Want to be able to set a default.
- (A) Following that, need user options settings to: 1. make sure all PINNED Custom Fields show, regardless of entered data (so empty ones show, too). 2. or show ALL Custom Fields (not just pinned) regardless of entered data, 3. Or show just those with data, then click for rest.
2.(B) Also, make sure ALL Custom Field label items show. (As, previously, only 1 or 2 would show.) (This works right now in current build.)
- Want to expand Task Description without clicking to edit it. Happy with pop-up, but just don't want to have to enter the (very slow) editor.
- Choose what fields show next to Subtasks. E.g., Start Date, Due Date, Custom Fields, Priority, etc.
- Does search button search all of CU or just inside the Task?
- At the top, if it's a Subtask, please make the Parent task name come directly above it, then List name at the very top. At the moment in the current live build, it goes Parent Task -> List name -> Subtask name, which makes no sense.
- I do fear the top Properties area is quite messy, and maybe line-by-line is better for cleanliness. But also this is better for space-usage. So I am not too bothered. So either way.
But, yes, this looks good!

- Added due dates to subtasks. Overdue dates appear in red.
- Task descriptions can now expand without opening the modal.
- Task sections can be reordered under Task actions → Preferences → Customize Task view.
- Sections can be expanded by default across tasks.
- Tabs are customizable, including Fields, Description, Attachments, Subtasks, and Checklists.
- Tabs follow the section order and scroll horizontally when more than three are enabled.
- The To-dos tab becomes Subtasks or Checklists when those sections are separated.
- Custom Fields now show pinned fields, empty fields, and every available field label.
- Added Pinned and Show empty values filters to Fields modal, persists.
- Improved the heading hierarchy and readability in Task actions.

Some FAQs:
- Do you have to customize Task view every time you visit a task? -> The way that I would ask engineering to build this is to save for the user. So if you toggle on showing Fields section, it would automatically show on all tasks across multiple mobile sessions. Is that what you all expected?
- How do subtasks look? -> I haven't finalized this yet but working on a solution where it is very clear near breadcrumbs, allowing you to move up and down the tree easily.

Considering that the iPhone details banner (time, cell service, battery) is at the top, it means the colored task banner at the top (task name) is still very tall.
Is there another way these highlighted rows (red) can be handled? 👇
Do we really need task view to show us how many subtasks are assigned to us? Our team has never needed (and would never use) this in the mobile app.
Is the “1 new comment” necessary here? Perhaps just a simple colored dot above “Updates” would work (see screenshot)?
With these two elements removed from below the task name, the big colored task banner can be reduced by ~30%, leaving room for breadcrumbs (and parent task name when viewing a subtask) above the task name.

Joey Cool, the organization is a bit more flexible to adapt to more work habits:)
However, I maintain that the main page sections should have the function of a summary and quick overview, and keep the actions (such as adding a subtask/checklist etc.) in their sub-window that have all the screen space for that.
Oh otherwise I have one last detail that doesn't let me down:
• The name of the sections is mixed with their content (the same type, almost the same size), which is not very effective in readability. I suggest better distinguishing and prioritizing section names, for example in larger bold, to visually better locate yourself, just like the Update section;)

In any case great initiative this small shared prototype, I am very pro-intelligence-collective, so I agree it's a very good process ^^
I don't know if you do that often at ClickUp, but I vote for it, it's the best way to become the smartest app in the world, and with AI today it's easier to manage thousands of comments, no more excuses xD!

Joey my favorite would be definitely the Version with the tabs. All easy and fast to see and understand and intuitive to use.
A thought that only comes to my mind with the Comments, could they not also be better a Tab? And in general I think that the closer it is to the Desktop-Version the better it would be because people did not have to think much because they can also explain from a desktop user etc. Just my raw thoughts about the mobile App 👍�

We could have comments as a tab, but we actually are hearing a fair bit of feedback that swiping over to a tab to see activity and comments is more annoying than seeing it via a small scroll. Many of our competitors have also moved in this direction.
In the survey above, a very small % of users felt unsure about Activity being below, which seems to align with that hypothesis.
That being said, we will keep showing it to users like you and make sure it's solid and clear for everyone before getting this built!

Joey Subtasks are - BY FAR - the most important thing and should always be front-and-centre.
In the current setup, Subtasks don't get enough prominence, but at least they are there on a big enough phone screen.
I like that B and C highlight subtasks up-top as icons or tabs, but I dislike they are not right under the Task Description as well. In B and C, you cannot see them as well as scroll/tab to them.
Again - Subtasks NEED prominence.
So, a combo of the current one, plus B and C is best:-
- Keep Subtasks on the main page right under Task Description that you can get to via scroll, but ALSO as a tab or icon up top.
- If you click the tab or icon, it scrolls to the Subtasks section.
- Or, if you scroll to the Subtasks section, it highlights the tab or icon.
(Same applies to Checklists, Comments, or whatever else.)
This would satisfy both tab and scroll users. That also aligns with Task View 4.0 on Desktop.
Visually, B and C are nicest visually (like the properties area), but the current setup is best for layout. But a combo of them would be the ultimate.
As for Activity on the main page - and so prominent - this feels so backwards to me. Again, Subtasks and Checklists are FAR more important than Activity. Anyone who needs to see Activity can stop being so lazy and click the tab. Whereas Subtasks are so important that they need prominence, and need to be seen when you open the Task.
I am also a fan of breaking out Comments from Activity in general. Comments are more important than general Activity.
Finally, please, for the love of all that is good, do not implement that last design for Properties! Just move forward with the B/C version - that one is nice.

If you are in a 7 layer deep nested subtask, you have to click the back button so many times to get back to the home screen or search box.

Redesign mobile custom fields section for improved UX

On mobile, the custom fields section feels "out of brand" and is difficult to use, especially when viewing large bodies of text. The markdown formatting isn’t working as it does on desktop, and the current two-column layout makes it hard to scan information. I suggest redesigning this section with a single-column approach to improve readability, ensure consistent formatting with desktop, and make it easier to scan and interact with data. I’ve added a screengrab to demonstrate the problem.
