All good, tks

I don't rely on the badges as they currently exist today. I'm a single user in the system, so it really holds no value for me. When I initially joined ClickUp many years ago, badge notifications would've been a significant need for me, but truthfully, I've adapted pretty well over the years to no longer require that for specific daily task reminders since I practically live in the system anyway.

Hi all. Right now, we show a badge on iOS when you have unread chats and/or unread threads. This works okay if you are using Chat and relying on the badge for that, but I wanted to do a pulse check.
Do you find the badge useful today? If not, why not? What would you like the badge to represent that it does not today?
Let me know, thank you!

Joey This has never worked for us, we do not have badges? this would be helpful, perhaps there is an option to switch these on?
Garrett Moore
Joey I have never had badges before. They have never existed.

Honestly, this feature has straight up sucked for the last year and I had to turn off notifications.
If you want it right, I would make it so the user can get a notification for when something is important enough to (not everything).
For our org, it is when I am tagged like @KristoferEng and nothing else. Otherwise, I'll look at the rest on my cadence.

Joey as others have mentioned, I’ve never had badge counts or notifications on iOS, for chat or any other feature in ClickUp.
This has been frustrating enough that my team and I are moving away from ClickUp to another platform that has fewer features but works more reliably. The lack of attention to a basic function like this is a serious issue. At this point, we’re choosing a simpler product because it delivers a more consistent experience.

Joey I have issues with not being notified of new messages even when I receive the notification on my computer. If I go to the channel on my phone, I can see it, which means it came in; I was just never notified of it. I see badges a couple of times, but they're always spotty and still with notification outages, which are crucial when I'm away from my computer.

Joey iOS badges are super broken following the switch to 4.0. We don't use ClickUp Chat or threads, yet we get an iOS badge with phantom unreads.

Joey Mine seem to work (at the moment at least), but the app badge should to be a simple total of all unread notifications, regardless of source (Chat, Comment, Mention, etc.).
Mine currently shows this correctly but I’m just making this comment so that this doesn’t change when addressing the bugs mentioned by others in this thread

Joey - There need to be options here for the various types of Notifications. For now, I find the unread Chat/Thread badge to be the most useful. But I can see how various people would need different badges for different reasons, so it should be a flexible system I think.

Joey - unread @mentions by default, then an ability to define the item(s) to count on the badge

Joey Badges don't show up correctly while the app is in the background. Notifications also don't work at all on mobile (iOS). Once I open the app, then the badges are updated, essentially making the feature useless on iPhones.
My Settings:
- ClickUp desktop: I have "Don't send mobile notifications while on Desktop or browser" turned OFF (AKA I should always be getting a notification on desktop and mobile at the same time)
- ClickUp Mobile in-app notification settings: set to Mentions only (this is also the only option selected in the mobile app notification settings as well)
- iOS System settings: Sounds, banners, and badges are on (I've even tried reinstalling the mobile app multiple times)
Result:
I get 0 banner notifications in the iOS app and only see the correct badge number once I open the app.

As an entrepreneur, I'm often out in the field, working with clients and customers. It would be great if we could have a notification icon on ClickUp when a chat has been sent to us. The same way we have this notification for Facebook messenger and text messages. This should be a simple addition. Is this something we're currently looking at?

What I find odd about this feature is some employees with iPhones will all of a sudden get badges on their phone and then after a few days, sadly, they stop working.

Any news? Investing so much in Chat and not adding a simple count of unread updates is complicated.

ClickUp what hell is wrong with you guys this is such a simple fix, it should not take years to get done! Every other app has this at their inception!. You guys really need to get your priorities straight!

Update?

how is this feature request 6 years old and they're still not done with it? my honest request would be for ClickUp to stop building new features and just make the ones they've built actually work... an update would be much appreciated.

agree with everyone. we were going to fully transition everyone to clickup, but we've already missed a lot of critical items b/c of the lack of notifications. can we get an ETA on the roll out?
