Import Message Boards and Docs from Basecamp
Kevin Malarkey
Unfortunately, Basecamp limitations prevent us from importing the following:
Campfires
Message Boards
Docs and Files on the Project
Attachments on comments in the to-dos and lists
Stu Yarrow
No attachments on to-dos and comments is a show stopper for us.
Its not fully accurate that this is entirely down to limitations in Basecamp. I had a quick play around with the Basecamp API today and it was not very difficult to fetch attachments. Its true that the attachment payloads are not accessible via the API, but its straightforward to fetch them if you are authenticated against the front end.
Is it possible that this feature might be worked on? Or could some of the import code be opened up for community contributions? I'm thinking of an open, customisable migration script maintained by the community, for users who need more than the import tool offers. If the migration is done via a 3rd party machine, it would also eliminate the need for ClickUp servers to hit the Basecamp UI, in case that has been ruled out for some reason.

Actually it looks like limitations in the ClickUp API are preventing this from being done right now. Even if we were to build a Basecamp to ClickUp migration tool from scratch, the documented ClickUp API is not really suitable for DIY imports as, for example, you cannot set the owner or creation timestamp on comments.
Some valuable, but relatively simple, improvements to the import tool would be:
* Deep link to the Basecamp attachments in the imported comments; just convert the <bc-attachment> element to a simple link. If the user is mapped then this makes it possible for the author to edit the ClickUp comment to reinstate the attachment.
* Insert text describing the missing attachment, again using the information that is already there in the bc-attachment tag.

Any update on this? Would love to propose a switch to ClickUp and this could be a big factor in making that move. Thanks!

Chase White: Hey Chase! Our Dev team is in the middle of building this 😊, Should be out soon!

Basecamp Import
Emily Noble
Our team is considering moving from Basecamp to ClickUp for our project management software. It would be great to import all project + tasks from Basecamp into ClickUp. Any idea when this might be possible to implement?
Zeb
Hey Emily! We plan to improve our imports and add Basecamp towards the end of this year.
