Business case: I think ClickUp has a lot of potential as a tool for serious long-form writers, but it needs a few tweaks to docs to make it really industrial-strength for these use cases. I've posted about some of these elsewhere (mostly around Word and ePub export formats).
Feature request: Another thing that would be really helpful is word count-related goals, where you could set docs, pages, subpages, or even all docs related to a list, folder or space to be included in the target word count.
Example use case: I've created a folder template that replicates most of the functionality of industry-standard novel editing programs. The one feature I haven't figured out how to replicate is word count goals that actually update based on the total word count in a certain doc (or set of docs or pages).
Ideally I'd like to be able to set a custom field on a task to pull in the updated word count from a doc or page linked to the task. Then I'd like the ability to set goals and calculate dashboard metrics based on the sum of word count custom fields on tasks in a particular list with a particular status. For example, the list would represent scenes of a novel, each linked to a page in a doc. The goal and/or dashboard card could be set to show the total word count of tasks marked "complete" or "in progress," say, and ideally even calculate the number of words per day that need to be completed to meet a word count goal with a due date.
I know there may not be that many literary power users clamoring for this right now, but I genuinely think this could be a market ClickUp could break into. It's so close to being able to replace the functionality of Scrivener and similar paid software for large writing projects.
