Situation
WIP limits are only supported by board views. List views don't have them.
Complication
  • Board Views are not the best fit to manage long backlogs or longer lists, if you want to leverage WIPs there.
  • Currently you need to switch between board and list view, if you want to see your WIP limit for a status
  • use case of "enable me to see how much I can plan for the next quarter via list view, based on team's throughput/velocity", is thus unsupported.
Resolution
Allow me to use WIPs on lists, so that I can e.g. set WIPs for Now, Next, Later Statuses.
That way I would be able to restrict the amount one could plan for the next quarter or "Next" Status, based on teams flow metrics (throughput, lead time or velocity) e.g. on what they can really achieve in a quarter based on numbers.
