Why does ClickUp's UI look nothing like the one advertised on the website? And can we get the one shown?
So, ClickUp is amazing for its functionality and what you can do with it. I use it daily and love it.
But the UI is terrible. It looks like a horrible, drab, boring, stale office that no-one wants to work in. And that honestly really affects enjoyment of the product and getting stuff done. Other apps out there are far nicer, and make you want to use them. Look at Nifty, for example.
But then you look on the ClickUp website, and it looks NOTHING like the actual app. The ClickUp advertising is compeltely different. It looks clean, fresh, modern, fun. The opposite of a drab office.
This is the ClickUp I want! I mean, look at the calendar view! Looks so nice! I am actually jealous of this ClickUp that does not exist, but is advertised.
Why can't we have it? Am I missing something? Is there some toggle button that will allow me to have this UI? Is it coming?
And, if not, why is it being advertised as being like that when it's not?
At the end of the day, I would love a UI that is more in keeping with what is on the website. It looks far better to use. Can we please get that?

Clickup would be more fun and enjoyable to use if views looked like these mockups

I'm probably leaving ClickUp because, aside from being slow and having a lot of bugs & weird functions, it's just drab. I'm visually oriented and it's a chore to stare at the ClickUp UI.

Not like the advertisement.

I downloaded this because in the advertisement it showed I could do like outlining or something that could help me organize my thoughts but I have no idea how to even begin. I see tasks and lists and notepad but nothing tells me how to get it with the little arrows and everything. It looks nothing like I saw in the advertisement.

Just want to say our Design Team sees this and hears you and we will be making this a focus for our 3.0 and beyond design!

I think the website shows us screenshots from the new Android app running on a Chromebook. The UI of the Android app is quite a bit similar to (if not the same as) what clickup.com shows us.
The black mouse pointer and weird hand tool are seen only on Chrome OS.

You should probably start out on the desktop app/site. I use it for all my personal professional organization, idea tracking etc. Don't give up just yet, Karma!

This has been bugging me for a while as well. I would enjoy using ClickUp so much more if it looked as advertized.

I appreciate what this post brings to the table. I very much appreciate the power and customizability of ClickUp for countless use cases. However, as a person highly sensitive to visual stimuli, the lack of customizability in the UI is hard. I can't simplify things like I'd want to be able to, and the UI has the potential to be amazing based on the marketing (re:Guy Mannerings). For context--Notion is a platform that has a beautiful and simple UI that doesn't add to the cognitive load as much. I love that ClickUp has a color pallet and dark mode (that has helped me a ton), but I would like to be able to simplify it a little more.

Colton Miller: One of the main reasons I'm looking for a way out of ClickUp is the total lack of any real visual appeal. I'm visually oriented and it's a chore to stare at a drab black or white screen where the most visually distinct items are tiny little colored icons.

I have to say I'm glad you posted as this very issue was also gnawing away at me! I wrote support many months ago in fact asking about the very point re: the Gantt UI. It is nowhere near as clean in reality as in the image on the site which you've posted here.
Another one for me was the eagerly awaited Timeline, one I was hoping would help me replace Asana. That too was released in what I'd call a more "primitive" look than was was presented on the website.
I don't agree with the posters below that bringing in the UI to match the visuals on the marketing site would at all affect negatively the functionality of ClickUp, which is why I think most of us are here.
And would be very curious for details A re: the updates you reference below. Are you saying these improvements might be coming according to some info you have? During the LevelUp conference, many of the UI's presented were in line with what we see on the Marketing site and what Guy is referring to, so perhaps this is going to be moot soon if those updates take place?

John Jones: In the Facebook group, Zeb did a market research post regarding the UI several months ago before the latest big wave of new users - I believe it's been taken down because they got a lot of good feedback for a direction. I believe I've been seeing the small adjustments happening with updates here and there.
Main issue with re-designing/adjusting, people hate change - so an instant redesign will ostracize their current users, and they're all about great customer experience for all. Slight adjustments makes sense to see what's working and not for the majority while being conscientious of the minority.
