Whiteboards Speed & Performance
complete
Liann Pelegrina
Hi! We love the clickup whiteboard and its EXTREMELY useful for our Quarterly planning to keep an overall track of our company wide progress. However, it gets really slow when we input all our plans and eventually converted things to tasks. It would be perfect if we can experience it at faster loading speed 🙏 We think its not our internet because all of us in the company are experiencing it. We also experience it with docs! Thank you so much!

Okay, we've re-added the speed and performance enhancements we made.
PLEASE let me know if there are any new glaring issues you encounter. What I'm aware of as of today:
- Mind Maps are still slower
Thank you 👊
Guy Mannerings
Zach: Seems fast to me! Good work, Zach!

I really like the white boards and the cool functionality. But they are very heavy and laggy. Some large boards don't open at all on all my computers. I contacted support. We are looking forward to the optimization of the boards.

Hey all,
We pulled our Speed & Performance improvements down recently in order to prevent a larger issue from affecting all whiteboards users. I'll post back here when the upgrades have been turned back on.
Thank you for your patience!
Hoping to get it resolved as soon as tomorrow, but we'll see.

I'm so excited to get this in your hands everyone!
Our team has worked day and night to massively improve performance on whiteboards. Expect lightning fast load times, smooth panning & navigation, reduced lag with large canvases and more!
At this point, we're on par with competitor whiteboard load times 🤯
These changes are LIVE now! Go check them out and let me know how it feels.
Thank ya as always! 🙇♂️

Zach: Definitely loading much faster! Great work!
Zach
Guy Mannerings: So glad to hear that Guy! We got some more improvements coming next week too!
Guy Mannerings
Zach: Hey Zach. I've noticed the first load of whiteboards is a bit slow, although definitely faster than before.
Second loads (so loading a different whiteboard) and onwards are really fast.
Is there any way to get an improvement on the first loads?
Good work so far, though, for sure!

Zach: Were these improvements only made for a certain account level? We use the unlimited plan and my whiteboard is still SO slow, it's become almost unusable, it completely freezes
Zach
Guy Mannerings thank you for the note! The first load will always be slower then subsequent loads, but I'll investigate.
Bronwyn Sinquefield: Oh no! Changes were made for all plan types. I'm going to reach out to you separately to chat about your problems and figure out what's going on.

Zach: Mine have also not improved on speed. Not sure if all accounts have applied this new feature yet? or if it's still rolling out? Thanks in advance!
Christopher
Zach: I just started using whiteboards and my search for a solution let me here where it says that you fixed it, but I don't seem to be experiencing the fix you're describing.
It's slow to load, slow to pan or zoom. Honestly it's unusable for me.

Christopher: I am having the same issue here, we just launched ClickUp company wide a few weeks ago and Boards and Form Submissions are VERY slow and sometimes never respond.

I don't get Clickup Whiteboards really. For example the website cards, what is the point of those? Also, would be great if we could put images small with a preview and see them big with a double click to avoid messy boards with huge images taking space.
Zach
We've got even more performance improvements coming! This next batch is going to make working on whiteboards with tons of content a lot more manageable.

Zach: I have experienced some issues while using ClickUp. The performance and speed are often slow, regularly. Today for example, I have encountered a blank white screen via the desktop app when trying to use the platform. I have been unable to rename items and have had similar issues while going via the web tab instead of the desktop app. These real-world user issues can be frustrating and negatively impact on user productivity.
While I understand that new features like GPTChat may be exciting, I believe that the ClickUp team should prioritize addressing performance and reliability issues before adding new features.
It's important for the basics to work properly before any new features are introduced. Adding new flavour of the moment features may not make a difference in retaining users like myself who prioritize reliable performance.
Bro, it's like having a car with all the bells and whistles, but if the car doesn't turn on, those features are meaningless. The ClickUp team needs to focus on getting their house in order and addressing these real-world user issues to provide a better experience for all users.
As mentioned in other comments requesting GPTChat etc - these can be found anywhere. I get my fix elsewhere and still would retain clickup. Clickup being unusable, unresponsive, unworkable would be present far more considerations to leaving or staying.

Zach: Hey Zach. Sound good, looking forward to the release.
Any chance this will address slow initial loading of whiteboards? They seem to have really slowed down recently, even quite simple ones.
Zach
Reg Beresford: First of all, I agree.
We have many squads that are each responsible for a different area/feature of the app. Whiteboards, tasks, sidebar, user platform, AI, etc. So, just because we are making progress on AI, for example, does NOT mean that platform-wide stability issues aren't priorities. We spread ourselves this way to avoid too many cooks in the kitchen and also so we can tackle a variety of feature requests/bugs. Additionally, there are certain engineers who specialize with different tech and therefore can't be dropped on any project. For example, a Whiteboards engineer has more specialization with canvas tech while our User Platform team specializes with sharing & permissions.
I hope that helps shed some light on how we approach innovation work Reg!
Zach
Guy Mannerings: YES, we are addressing the slow initial loading of whiteboards
Reg Beresford
Zach: Thanks Zach. Understand. Appreciate your time and input here to the group in responding also.
Zach
It's going to be A LOT faster soon. Thanks for your patience
And not just faster with scrolling and panning....load time too!

Benjamin Arnedo
Zach: Love that. The mind maps are sluggish too..have a look at that
Zach
Benjamin Arnedo: Thanks for the tip!

We're going to be making Whiteboards lightning fast soon. Give us some time and I promise it will be worth it :)

I am experiencing slow performance in ClickUp, specifically when navigating between lists and documents. The issue is not related to typing or document usage, but rather the speed at which the new lists and documents load. I have to wait a long time for them to load. I have tried troubleshooting by disabling extensions and optimizing my computer and internet settings, but the issue persists. I am concerned about how this issue would be impacted by slower internet speeds for me travelling overseas or other users in a much slower speed environment.
