What happened to "Week/Day" in Gantt view?
Gamba (BW)
I just noticed the change in timescales in Gantt view and in my opinion you just made the Gantt view almost unusable.
Having your Gantt timescale in "Week" doesn't mean you ONLY want to see weeks, it's just a comfortable scale in which you can plan out tasks for multiple weeks in advance, but where the tasks don't always match one entire week!
As you can see in the attached image, I have a task that lasts several weeks and I'd like to see it fit entirely in my screen, so I choose "Week". However, I have a due date for that task and now I can't easily tell from this view which day is my due date! Is it on wednesday? is it on thursday? I'll have to go check inside the task and open up the date option... to find out it's actually on friday, what? Turns out it doesn't even work with the "Hide and skip weekends" option.
It is also a bit misleading that the current time bar is set at the beginning of the week, as today is friday but the line suggests that the week is just starting.
The only reason I said it's "almost" unusable it's because I found a workaround for this. If you select "Day" and then click on "Zoom out" a couple times, you can get to a somewhat similar result as before. However in my specific scenario, the permanent settings for that view are controlled by the company where I work, so I'll have to find another view that fits my needs.
I really love ClickUp but I'm starting to worry that I'll have to move to another platform one day because ever since ClickUp 3.0 launched, all I've seen is changes that don't make much sense and have only damaged the quality of life and usability of features that were already perfect just like they were.
If you want to take anything at all out of this, just please take this: If you want to add features, do it without destroying previous ones. Add it as an option, not as an obligation, let the users choose what's best for them.

In case anyone missed it – a new update is out today that helps this issue significantly by zooming out the Gantt view scale without impacting the other UI elements 👏🏻
It isn't perfect (I wish it would allow further zoomed-out view) but it's a huge improvement. Thanks!

Juan Grandas It's set the wrong way round. Ctrl + Scroll up should zoom IN, and Ctrl + Scroll down should zoom OUT. This is how it is in every other program. ClickUp has it the opposite on Gantt charts.

Thank you for pointing this out. I reviewed the default scroll settings across different operating systems.
If your local scroll setting is that scrolling down moves content down on a web page, then scrolling down on the Gantt should zoom in, while scrolling up should zoom out.
This aligns with how most graphic design and whiteboarding tools work. I also reviewed some usability studies to confirm this.
Currently, the Gantt behaves differently, so we'll definitely take a look and adjust.

Juan Grandas Thanks, Juan!

I fully agree, this update has made managing schedules tedious and inefficient.

Please bring back the timescale option "Day/Week" in Gantt view which was replaced with "Day" or "Week" -- the day/week option was our preferred view and switching between day and week is causing a lot of issues. Please add back day/week as an option.

Fix the Gantt charts please! I have been absolutely frustrated with trying to move items over and having them pushed back years. Additionally bring back the Day/Week view

Completely agree on this.

Beyond frustrating trying to create / edit a Gantt chart now. This has changed changed how are deparment functions.

Absolutely agreed on this, I've switched to using the day view which isn't nearly as helpful for long-term project planning, especially considering that the zoom setting (I do the furthest out zoom to get as close to the old week view as I can) doesn't save, so you have to re-zoom out every time you enter the view.

I don't like the new scaling feature on the Gantt charts. The old Gantt view was perfect for me. I liked how narrow each date column was (now, even the narrowest zoom available on the Date scale is too wide). Plus, a weekly scale with week numbers rather than dates is not helpful. But most frustratingly, you cannot save the scale on the zoom. It reverts to the week view every time the Gantt is opened or a project dropdown arrow is expanded. It's really inefficient to have to adjust the scale every single time you look at a project on the Gantt. So, my requests would be:
1) Make a narrower date scale available (just show the number date at the top with bolder lines to separate the weeks, exactly like the old view. Having the weekday abbreviations makes the columns too wide and you have to scroll to see more of the project Gantt).
2) Be able to save the scale/ zoom so it does not reset every time you open a Gantt or a dropdown arrow on a project.

This change was rolled out and rolled back a while back - I don't understand why they would come back to this. GANTT is the main reason we're on clickup - we're about to start up again for the fall, and this has me looking at alternatives. Sudden breaking changes have just been too common

Beyond frustrating trying to create / edit a Gantt chart now. Baffling decision to make this change.
