Virtual Assignee
Jack Hatfield
It would be great to be able to assign tasks to virtual people in order to better categorise and track tasks which are the responsibility of people who are not members or guests within ClickUp. This could be a generic "others" assignee or perhaps better still a virtual assignee which can be customised to suit each task (e.g. it may be an organisation name on one task or a person's name on another). In that way the task can still sit within our task lists and be sorted and filtered, despite there being no actual person linked to it.

Third party assignees

I would like to be able to set third party names that need to be assigned to task.
Right now you can only add assignees who are part of your workspace but in case you want to write down the name of a third party member you need to add a new text column in order to do this. This should work better in the assignee column

We just need the ability to be able to assign tasks to people who wont be accessing click up so we can still see who it is allocated to on the plan

We need this!!! The teams workaround isn't usable if you have their basic "unlimited" plan. I guess it's not unlimited for virtual assignees...
Brian F
A workaround is making use of a blank team for place holder.
Raphael
Brian F: Interesting Brian; could you explain what you mean?
Brian F
Raphael: If you go to your settings under people, there are teams. I just make a team with 0 people in it using the person's name and photo this can then get assigned. I also use this to track our fleet vehicles so we can see where they are assigned and are not getting overbooked.
Raphael
Brian F: Thanks man; I'll try it out!
Brian F
Raphael: How did you get on?

Brian F: That's exactly what I have done and it seems to be working. But I have found the whole ClickUp project management experience frustrating. Support articles are basic.
Anyone knows how/where to set the type of dependencies between tasks, e.g. Finish to Start, or Start to Start ... and the time delay (lag) between dependencies?
Brian F
NegotiationWise: Gantt view is a bit limited but you can also link tasks directly in the expanded view or group select.

I won't pay for anything until some virtual assignees start to appear on my screen.

Yes, this is a must feature and a basic one, without it practically you don’t have a project management software. It’s shocking that this basic function is not available, it shows none of designers have a clue of what project management is, it is a MUST function.
We are about to setup a project plan for the next 3 years and need to be able to estimate our resource requirement as part of planning.
ClickUp should stop promoting its app as a project management tool because it is NOT.
Raphael
NegotiationWise: I'm with you with the fact this is really a basic function!
I still think its a great tool; but it does seem dumb that I can't assign jobs to tasks and teams that don't yet exist. Or if I am wearing multiple hats, and then want to hand a hat over.
Work arounds?
Justin French
ClickUp Admin - Please add this feature. When planning large projects, with a large number of new hires planned, we need to be able to predict workload across both existing and future employees. Without this feature, your Workload feature is almost useless and the workarounds suggested, ie, creating guest accounts is not a productive way of doing things.

One of the best approach is in Float. It lets you choose the type of the user.
Raphael
Alexandru: is this then a user? that i'd have to pay for?

Must have. I manage projects for a few decent-sized teams, and I use ClickUp for my own sanity to keep myself organized in the midst of it all. I do not want to have to make users and make up email addresses. I literally need to make pretend people for planning out how to help my teams work more efficiently, myself included.
