According to a reply from the support, to create a space template which could be used by most user in the company we'll have to :
  1. create a space template based on a space shared with all the users allowed to create spaces based on that template
  2. restrict the sharing of this new template to this same userlist to avoid any confusion as there's an error message if the user doesn't have access to the initial space
  3. once a space has been created based on the template, removing the sharing with some users having access to the template because they have nothing to do in that new space.
This is really cumbersome, whereas using predefined templates is no problem at all.
