Description to Custom Field

Custom Field to also exist in the task description that when the task description is updated, the custom field will update
Use case for this is having the flexibility of user to update in the description but since custom field is the one that's used for sorting and data pull, whatever the user updated in the description will also reflect in the custom field.

Embed Custom Field in Task Description
Lisa Steiner
I'd like to be able to embed a custom field in my task description. For example, I have a table in my task description where we're listing a resource being used. We also have a custom field for this resource for the purposes of tracking on a calendar view. Rather than putting it in twice, I'd love to be able to set that spot in my table to automatically link to that custom field, so when the custom field gets updated, it reflects that where I've embedded it in that specific task.
We have this table set up as a template, so I'd love to be able to set it up on our template, then when we load the template in it will still work and recognize the task its on

Custom field value in task description (always updated)
Julien da Costa
Maybe it's a crazy idea... but I thought about it today.
Sometimes it's more convenient to write/search data in custom fields, and other times it's more convenient to write/search data in the task description.
The crazy idea that came to my mind is whether it would be possible to insert a custom field value into the task description (and have it automatically update in the description when I change the task's custom field value).
In other words, through the features that ClickUp provides when we type " / " in the task description — allowing us to choose between dividers, buttons, templates, headers, etc. — there could also be an option like "Custom Field" that would let us select one of the custom fields from the list. This text block would then display the value of the chosen custom field for the respective task.
Example:
I have a custom field called "Amount" which is a numeric field in euros.
In the description, I create a report where I talk about expenses and observations, and I want to include in the report the value from the "Amount" (€) custom field.
- I would type "/custom field" or "@@@@@custom field" in the task description;
- I would select the respective custom field containing the desired value;
- From there, I could see the value in the ClickUp list view (via the custom field), in Dashboards view, or in the task description (via this feature);
- When I updated the custom field, the value would automatically update in the task description;
- This way, I wouldn't need to update a value twice (in the task description and the custom field) to keep the information up to date, and it would let me to export/print the task description, like a report.
I try to demonstrate it on image attached.

Mention custom field in task description

The ability to mention custom fields in task descriptions for example if I am making a postcard for a client I could type
Create, Print and Mail a postcard for /custom field (CLIENT)
which would then pull the associated tasks client name custom field and put it in the description. This could be put in templates and make automating task descriptions cleaner and easier.

I was trying to code just this the other day and imagine my surprise it is not yet a feature within the system! simple link to a field should not be a problem as we already can discover those fields in i.e. automations... I'd like to see a text being generated: "please update [Custom Fiels 1] based on [Client] requirements from request no [Request No]

Yes, this would be nice.
My use case is client onboarding.
Part of the onboarding is, that i define custom tasks. So i have a checklist "Please add the booked Influencer to this task". The booked influencer is a dropdown field. It would be nice, if i could directly set the value in the checklist.

This would be a very helpful feature. I would use this to automatically generate printable reports with rich text formatting using a templates and automations.

Totally! We want to prepare a printable description with all pre-on-post procedures for a task and part of that checklist depends of values from the custom fields.

definitely, a useful feature, sometimes custom fields are more important than descriptions, so user must have the ability to change the order. Thanks in advance!
