is there any update about this feature? can we please have this feature soonest???
Monil Shah
Click Up Team can we please get this feature asap?
Charlotte McKinney
I'm surprised, given ClickUp's robust functionality, this doesn't already exist! It's an illogical extra step to have to put the parent task In Progress when one of the subtasks is active.

Jeff MacNeill
Agreed. If a subtask is In Progress, this implies the parent task is In Progress (not always, but more often than not for most work flows). This seems like a no-brainer. It sucks paying large subscription fees for an app to "replace them all" and then constantly being referred to other third party automation platforms like MAKE or Zapier to make basic features work.
Pierre Becher
Jeff MacNeill "replace them all" is not more than a marketing story. Better take a 80% software and add the missing 20% via third party tools.
Luis
Adding my two cents. We just need parent tasks to change to an active status when any of it's subtasks status changes to an active status. Reason being is that subtasks appear in work feeds before the parent task does, since the parent due date is always after all the subtasks due date.
Pierre Becher
This takes 5 minutes to build using the API :)

Vanessa Galano
Pierre Becher hi, how did you get to set it up on Make?
Anthony Carbonelli
Pierre Becher Hi could you tell us more on how can this be implemented?
R
Ryan Shaver
Pierre so you're saying the ClickUp devs have no excuse and should immediately do this...got it!
P
Pauline Henry
Yep Yep and Yep. Seems like a basic ask
Niklas Panten
We definitely need this for tons of use cases. Any update here from Clickup team?

Super important feature - should be a basic function

not sure if this one is still a going concern, but I think P Goddard outlines it best: if at least one subtask status changes from Not Started to Active, update parent status
