Unselect undisplayed tasks

Sometimes unhappy things happen when I select several tasks, modify them and use filters.
I figured out it was because I suppose that the tasks I selected which disappeared from my screen because of modifications and filters are still selected - while not displayed.
So while I am thinking I am working on the tasks I have on screen, the modifications I do on my selection still apply to those undisplayed tasks.
Is it just me ? Am I just doing this wrong ? (Surely I can avoid doing this by thinking of closing the selection between modifications) Or is this something we can discuss on the selection feature design ?

This one is sneaky. You select a bunch of tasks on a filtered list, and apply a change to them, like updating the assignees, and they fall off the list. They're not in the display anymore, but they're still selected! So if you carry on to select other tasks to modify, you're just adding them to the selected (hidden) tasks. It would be good for tasks to be unselected when they're not displayed.
