Better time tracking and reporting

I've added this a couple of times, but as the team continues to use Clickup, there is a lot of items missing in tracking and forecasting.
I've tried all the widgets but ideally this is what I need: for any given month (and possibly other time frames):
- a list of projects containing how much time was logged on that project by assignee or resource
- a list of resources containing how much time they logged on each project they worked on

- Time entry deletion logs in task activity
- Time estimates in personal lists
- Easy time entry reduction in timesheets (no need to go into the task)
- Right click to start a timer on tasks

It would be amazing if ClickUp time tracking could integrate with QBO Payroll, so the same team member’s tracked task time could automatically sync into their payroll hours. Just a thought ; )

Hi Bugra Oktay, I am really liking the new changes that are happening right now, specially AI becoming able to read time related field.
One thing I want you to add to the list is being able to create dashboards for time entries grouped by time tags (to be seen as pie charts, bar charts etc)

Bugra Oktay Hi I see the updates now in time reporting card that we are able to group by tag. However it is not possible to have 2nd level grouping for tag. Can we have group by user then group by tag? or group by tag then group by user? else we wont be able to tell the entries are done by which user if we group by tag only

Bugra Oktay Please include the option to group by custom fields. I already have established custom fields to be able to pull tasks apart for reporting - I don't want to have to add multiple tiime tracking tags which would clutter my task row information to define that work, when the data already exists within custom fields and only needs to be used for reporting, not day to day work..

Could you please make the Time Reporting Widget actually SAVE MY PREFERENCE NOT TO SHOW CAPACITY? That option is there. But, it does not save it. So, when I refresh the page, my change does not work anymore because it always turns that back on. Bugra Oktay

Hi, can we have time label tags to show in timesheet card? Currently when we expand on Timesheet card, it shows the task then follow by description of the entries but without time label tag. Whereas on Time Reporting card it will show description and time label tags of the entries however we cant tell on which day it is tracked like timesheet card. On the timesheet feature, it is not possible to use any filter like location or custom field ,it will just show all time entries done by user. Hence we are missing a card whereby we can filter then check the time label tag + description of each entries and date it is tracked on.

I cannot understand anything more useful to a client than the time relationship to cost. Can we expect functionality to do so with the Calculation card (short-term) and long-term a proper billable card? We created a hack work around that will be difficult to manage. PLEASE reach out if you need a design parter. We will happily volunteer our time AND UI design free of charge to help expedite this.

Dexter Dake hi, Can you please elaborate how you did this dashbord in clickUp? I would love to learn this workaround as it seems that ClickUp is not planning to solve this issue anytime soon. I've stumbled upon at least 10 topic threads with hundreds of votes ... dating from back to 2019 some of them. I;ve seen the pinned message but there is no release date or something.
I was expecting 4.0 to solve this issue but they rathered focused on AI and AI agents when the tool is missing such a BASIC feature...
We use custom fields for customers at workspace level so that evey list (e.g. department) can assign tasks to specific customers. Product teams deliver work related to certain platforms and operational teams (CS and Billng) need to know how to cuantify and monetize the work spend.
Time reporting is unfortuntely tied to standard task dates (date create, date updated, date closed, etc...) but we often have tasks that are created this month and closed 2 months from now, with time entries every week. I just couldn't find a way to see clearly how much effort has been tracked towards customers (custom fields) across the entire workspace. Any ideas?
Would love to hear / learn from your case.

What would be awesome is to export time entries that don't have task assigned. I've been in contact with support as these do appear with different approaches/workflows starting a time entry.
What would be helpful also is a reminder to check the timesheet. We do have a time set but the reminder doesn't seem to appear.

Rebecca Holderbaum: there is indeed a reminder for submitting timesheets. Could you tell me more about it not working? Could you check if it's set in Settings in the Timesheet Approval tab?

Right now I am exporting tracked time through a dashboard - with all the entries as unassigned time entries can't be selected through a filter.
Until now I have exported the dashboard, cross checked before and after status (if some entries went missing etc.).
As for the reminder: we have settings but so far a reminder won't show up in my inbox or anywhere else (see screenshot)
Usually users can set their notifications individually and this is a good thing as everyone tackles work differently. But notifications for processes like approvals for a weekly timesheet should only be set through an admin so team members can't override them.

What I need (apologies if this has been covered) is to be able to visualise time spent per user and / or space within the past month in chart form. I tried to set this up but the closest I can get is anything updated within the past month and this includes time spent this month and any other time, so anything that crosses over a month shows like loads of time has been spent. This seems like a fundamental feature required by any business to me in order to see whether companies are over-servicing clients...
We also need to be able to allocate time to a space or folder so we can compare to time spent, giving us a figure of how much we have over-serviced a client
