Threaded comment replies is great and I assumed (incorrectly) that it would bring order to the chaos of chat steams too.
For chats to be really effective, we need to be able to have threaded conversations just like we can in comments now with the Clickapp that was just released (https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/threaded-comment-replies)

Please provide a way to expand threads by default (it's easy to overlook a new threaded reply) and make it so threaded replies don't disappear when you turn off the threaded comment app.

Keep your Chats clear of clutter with threaded comments!
Now if you want to have a side conversation, you can reply to someone in a thread so everyone's notifications stay clean 🎉

Right now, it's not possible for me to reply to specific messages on chat, so I users don't know what specific chat message I'm replying to. This causes a lot of confusion! No one knows which exact message is being referenced. This renders your chat feature pretty useless for me, because instead of easing communication, it is adding confusion. Thank you!

Any update on this yet? It would be a huge improvement and would really help to use the #Chat functionality in some cases over an instant messaging tool

I think if Chats had a redesign so they got kicked off with the Topic and an initial message at once, as I mentioned in that suggestion, you’d almost automatically have the responses “threaded” in the first place.
