Threaded comments expanded by default
Marnie Hanlon
It's so easy to miss the threaded reply as it's currently collapsed by default... could there be an option to keep them expanded? Thanks!

+1 Solution is to have a user preference, toggled off by default, that expands replies. A simple text indicator "View as thread" would indicate enough for reply comments.
Make this a desktop / desktop webapp only feature as to not require mobile ui changes.
Toggling this off by default would address the problem for those who are extremely frustrated and cannot see replied, without interfering with the design intended for a wider audience.

Subject: Feature Request – Indented Previews for Replies in Activity Feed
Hi ClickUp Team,
I’d love to see an improvement to the way threaded replies are displayed in the activity feed. Right now, replies to comments are only visible if you click to open the thread, which makes it easy to miss important follow-ups or discussions.
My suggestion: Please add an option to show a 1–2 line indented preview of each reply directly beneath the original comment/activity in the main feed. This would make it much easier to spot ongoing conversations at a glance, without cluttering the interface or requiring extra clicks. Limiting the preview to just the first line or two would keep things tidy, while still surfacing key information.
Thank you for considering this upgrade! It would be a huge help for keeping team communication clear and efficient.
Best,
Grant Brimhall

Really need threaded comments separated from Chat functionality. We don't want threaded replies on task comments, but do want chat that behaves like Slack.

We are missing replies because they are threaded!! Please help on this one. We want to turn OFF threaded replies but when you do that it REMOVES ALL REPLIES- had to turn the threaded replies back on so we could see the old comments.

Why isn't this fixed? I just emailed someone and they sent me a screenshot of a reply that I couldn't find. We are working with another company using clickup, so I can't control the "threaded" messages feature. I should be able to view it the way I want from a user perspective. It shouldn't be that hard to allow all replies to be expanded on a per user basis. Or my preferred would be to have all activity in the list, with most recent first, and no threads.

I share the same frustration Marnie Hanlon described. Important replies are often hidden when threads collapse by default, and it’s easy to overlook them. Having the option to keep threads expanded would make conversations more visible, reduce the chance of missing updates, and improve overall collaboration.

I am giving Clickup this year to fix this I am already looking for a competitive product. It is very froustrating and a pitty for clickup to ignore all requests for this very easy to implement fix. (it is a fix)

Threaded comments also need to be nameable and highlighted within tasks. And in my opinion, chat side bar should look something like this, containing 1) Task comments/threads & direct threads 2) Channels (groups) 3) Direct messages. It could also double as the inbox....

Jira implemented threaded replies similarly recently. I'm starting to think these companies don't do any real world user testing.

This has been frustrating for years, and I genuinely don’t understand why it still hasn’t been fixed after more than 4 years. ClickUp, stop pouring resources into unnecessary AI features and fix this basic functionality first!
