Absolutely necessary... Even with an automation there should be the option to "Inherit" the following:

How is this not a day 1 base feature. I make subtasks and have to manually change all statuses, this is so much extra work.

This would help reduce the project manager's need for going into every project for retainer clients and updating the task status, every month!

New ClickUp Enterprise user. Could not agree more that if any child (subtask) changes to Active, then the parent should also change to Active. Seems like the most basic common sense automation feature......yet it's missing?!?!?

Also should be available to do it other way around, when parent tasks are seen by supervisors and subtasks are assigned to team members, changing the status of a subtask should also be set-up to trigger the change in status of the parent task to signify to the leadership (looking only at high level parent tasks) which tasks are already in progress.

We need to inherit Task status automatically to all of its subtasks for certain department use cases too.

RECOMMENDED SOLUTION TO CLICKUP AUTHOR:

On the Automation Rules, please build for us:

Trigger: When a Task status is change/,updated

Action: Inherit Task status to all of its Subtasks

This way we can set it up based on our needs.

For some use case, we can do the default feature of manual update of the Task and Subtask statuses, while

for other use cases where we need to automatically inherit the task status to its subtasks to reduce time spent on work, we can use the automation rules.

Would like to vote for this each time I have to manually intervene to update subtasks...as it is costing hours of my time.

I vote for Subtasks should inherit their parent task's status
