New Custom Field type: Duration

I want a field in which I can enter a duration. HH:MM:SS
- Duration field: this would need to be usable in a function.
- Time formatting for formula custom field: To make the duration field usable in functions, the function field must have the option to output in HH:MM:SS format.
Use Case:
As an audiobook narrator, I make each chapter to record a "task". I need to have a field in which I can record how long that chapter's audio file is. This is DIFFERENT than time tracking. Though I want to be able to do that too. And then to compare the two numbers with a formula to determine my productivity (Time spent/File length= a percentage)
I also would want to use this field in a formula to determine how long an entire book is through a SUM function.
This would also require the formula field to be formatted to appear as a time in HH:MM:SS. This would be important so that I could estimate how long each chapter is through a formula (Number of Words/Reading Speed= estimated length of entire book in HH:MM:SS; then Estimated length of entire book /Number pages=Reading time per page in HH:MM:SS; then Reading time per page * number of pages in each chapter=estimated length of chapter in HH:MM:SS)
I use this kind of feature in Airtable for audiobook narration work. I would use ClickUp instead, but without the duration it is prohibitively unusable.

I fully agree that we need a field duration. It should either calculate the time between start date and end date but it should also calculate the end date when you add duration to the start date. This would be very helpful if we have project templates. Then, we could set up the duration per task as standard and only have to set the start date.

The comments below are not simplewhat the feature request is about. We need just a simple Duration custom field to be able to add HH:MM:SS and can be used in formulas and calculate with them at the end of the column. Nothing else. Same as the estimate time, but as a custom field.

Time tracking column

Column that automatically tracks the timeline between start day & end date. This is something available in Monday.com and is extremely helpful visually to see how close to the end day each task is.

Start & End Dates on Custom Date Field

Allow for a custom date field to have both a start and end date option. An example use case is for a list that I’m creating for team vacation tracking—I’d like to set up a custom date field that lets the team put in the day that their vacation begins (start) and the day that their vacation is over (end) and show it connected in the calendar view the same way the start date and due dates natively appear on the calendar. These custom dates don't necessarily need to be task-specific, so I wouldn't want to muddy up the Start Date and Due Date if there's nothing actually due.

Extracting the duration between start date and due date seems like an obvious, easy and small thing, right?
Think again.
Here's the formula:
Concatenate(IF(IF(HOUR(field("Due date"))>HOUR(field("Start date")),DAY(field("Due date"))-DAY(field("Start date")),DAY(field("Due date"))-DAY(field("Start date"))-1)>0,IF(HOUR(field("Due date"))>HOUR(field("Start date")),DAY(field("Due date"))-DAY(field("Start date")),DAY(field("Due date"))-DAY(field("Start date"))-1)&"d "," "),IF(IF(HOUR(field("Due date"))>HOUR(field("Start date")), HOUR(field("Due date"))-HOUR(field("Start date")),(24-HOUR(field("Start date")))+HOUR(field("Due date")))>0,IF(HOUR(field("Due date"))>HOUR(field("Start date")), HOUR(field("Due date"))-HOUR(field("Start date")),(24-HOUR(field("Start date")))+HOUR(field("Due date")))&"h ",""),IF(IF(MINUTE(field("Due date"))>MINUTE(field("Start date")), MINUTE(field("Due date"))-MINUTE(field("Start date")), MINUTE(field("Start date"))-MINUTE(field("Due date")))>0,IF(MINUTE(field("Due date"))>MINUTE(field("Start date")), MINUTE(field("Due date"))-MINUTE(field("Start date")), MINUTE(field("Start date"))-MINUTE(field("Due date")))&"m",""))
We use this to automatically calculate the length of tasks based on start and due, which can be helpful in scenarios such as:
Resource management, meeting rooms, fleet management, shift schedule. Anything where duration is valuable.
This should be a feature.

We need that a lot !! It's allow to see at one glance, several pre-orders periods, or sales periods of several collections.
