New Custom Field type: Duration

I want a field in which I can enter a duration. HH:MM:SS
- Duration field: this would need to be usable in a function.
- Time formatting for formula custom field: To make the duration field usable in functions, the function field must have the option to output in HH:MM:SS format.
Use Case:
As an audiobook narrator, I make each chapter to record a "task". I need to have a field in which I can record how long that chapter's audio file is. This is DIFFERENT than time tracking. Though I want to be able to do that too. And then to compare the two numbers with a formula to determine my productivity (Time spent/File length= a percentage)
I also would want to use this field in a formula to determine how long an entire book is through a SUM function.
This would also require the formula field to be formatted to appear as a time in HH:MM:SS. This would be important so that I could estimate how long each chapter is through a formula (Number of Words/Reading Speed= estimated length of entire book in HH:MM:SS; then Estimated length of entire book /Number pages=Reading time per page in HH:MM:SS; then Reading time per page * number of pages in each chapter=estimated length of chapter in HH:MM:SS)
I use this kind of feature in Airtable for audiobook narration work. I would use ClickUp instead, but without the duration it is prohibitively unusable.

We're a video production company, and we like to track how long our final videos are in MM:SS format. Programs like excel and our CRM database have the ability to log numbers in that format, but Clickup doesn't. (In fact, it seems the Number field doesn't have any formatting options like decimals, percentages, etc, that I would expect with a numbers field.) It would be a great thing to include!

Please add this feature ClickUp!!

Zeb why don't the docs match the reality or better yet, have reality match the docs?

On the Cliclup Website , it says that task duration can be days, hours and minutes.
Set duration on tasks
You can add or edit task duration from tasks:
Open the task.
Click the Dates field.
In the upper-right corner of the modal, click the duration field.
Type the task duration using weeks, days, hours, or minutes.
Please fix this!!!

They've recently added a duration field that can be automatically calculated based on start & due dates (like Robert mentions) --- but, as of now, the smallest metric is 1d.
I agree that the duration field should be more granular (DD:HH:MM:SS).

Need this too. Very useful for marketing campaign duration and making multiple items visible in a calendar utilising different date fields

We would very much like to see this implemented too – for a completely different use case though. As we'd like to keep using the native Estimate-field for estimates. Right now we use it as "Duration approved by the client". We would much rather have "Duration approved by the client" in a custom (duration-)field that can be used in formulas instead of misusing the Estimate-field, which would be nice to be used for its intended use. Thank you!

I would like to see duration as an automatic system field that shows the different between start and due dates.
Additionally, you should be able to customise duration to include or exclude weekends / holidays so it provides a 'working' duration
This is also a key requirement for Gantt improvement in ClickUp
