Sort / Group / Filter Rollup Fields
Ioannis Gkretsikos
I guess this is already planned?
Doesn't make much sense to have rollup fields without the ability to sort / group or filter by them.

Agree 100%. Seems like this is getting a lot of attention in 2025. Let's hope it happens soon. Seems like this is long overdue!
Best use case for me is inventory data integrity. We have two lists, one for inventory item masters, and one for inventory items on hand. The item master list include a dropdown customer fields for item master location. I have a master location called "ISSUE OUT." I've used this master location in other systems like SAP, WinAir, Lawson, etc., to set apart inventory items that get issued out immediately but for whatever reason need to be tracked via inventory rather than as service types of expenses. On a recurring bases, I run an on-hand inventory report AND WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO FILTER, OR AT LEAST GROUP RESULTS BY MASTER LOCATION to quickly identify what items to issue out (or expense).
This sort of functionality is very useful when it comes to data integrity. I don't want a bunch of garbage tasks in my on-hand inventory that should have been 'closed' or 'issued out' already. Keeps things neat and tidy. My use of ClickUp for inventory mast/on-hand/on-order tracking is getting much better over time, but it's been nearly 3 years now for me, and this one area is really lacking.
Some day. Gotta have that dream in my pocket!

Hi I'm relatively new to clickup and love so much of it and I just got my head around rollup fields and I am completely stumped about what the point of rollup fields is if you can't filter/group/sort by them. I've been setting up a recipe list (which doubles as a meal planner) and a list of groceries and what I wanted was to use rollup to show in the ingredients list that if the corresponding recipe has a checkbox ticked (for meal plan) that I could then filter by those ingredients and therefore have a shopping list. But apparently I can't! Cos you can't have automations that work between lists (for some reason) and you can't filter by a roll up field. Yours, in frustration!

Please Team ClickUp, consider develop this feature!! ⚠️
I'm Partner, This afternoon I had a session with a client (a tax advisory firm). We have a list that serves as a client database, and then we have task lists.
In the client database, custom fields are defined to specify who the account manager is, who is responsible for monthly taxes, who handles quarterly taxes, and who is in charge of annual taxes.
We’ve created relationships between the different task lists, and through aggregated fields, the responsible person for each scenario is displayed. For example, in the monthly taxes list, the aggregated field for the monthly tax responsible person is shown.
However, the client is asking to be able to filter or group by the responsible person.
From my perspective, and with my knowledge of SQL programming, I believe that once the join is done with the master table, the target table should allow filtering or grouping of the data to make the work easier. Right now, the information can only be used for display purposes, without the ability to manipulate it for working with the data (filters or groupings).
Do you think this is a feature that will be implemented?

I would really like to know if this is planned? A month ago we finally got the much needed ability to group/filter by relationship field. Now the next big hurdle is the ability to group/filter by rollup field.
I am not an expert but I am guessing it can't be too different to develop if the ability to group by relationship already exists? Can this be prioritised please?

While grouping by relationships is helpful, the real information that is key is the rollup fields. I.e. we will relate work we do to a specific client, but not being able to group by that client's tier, relationship manager, or industry makes clickup a difficult tool to work with. We end up having to export information to other tools like Sheets!
