So many little things that are counterintuitive (notification center, lists, UI and more)
Julie
TLDR; Notifications center is horrendous for productivity, UI is time consuming and home page sucks.
Notifications center:
As a project manager, notifications are extremely important for me. The previous UI allowed me to quickly react, whether it be with a thumbs up or a comment, directly from the notifications tab. Now, I have to manually click on the task to reply or thumbs up. Even then, it only shows the comment, not the original. It’s an extra click to open the task in a new tab if I wanna refer to the task description. As I review a bunch of creative projects, I NEED to have the full task view when clicking the notif so I can refer to the description, not just the comment.
It’s extremely counter intuitive and quite time consuming.
Again, as a project manager, I track our team’s activity. I used to follow all activity in the notifications tab as I am a watcher and could follow the status changes, comments, likes, and changes. An activity dashboard is not the same, as I need to personally have the notifications announcing me of each changes.
I hate that SOME notifications are in important and SOME are in other. I need them all in the same place, I need to track my team’s productivity. It also is very time consuming having to review two different notifications, which are sometimes double (example, task 1 is in “important” because a comment was added, but task 1 is also in “others” because the status was changed. Why separate???).
Next, it is extremely difficult to take care of tasks in the notification center. You’d believe that an overdue notification would allow me to change the status from the notif itself as we would be able to in 2.0, but no. I have to manually click the task, (again, so many clicks and time wasted), to go on the big full screen task and change the date if applicable.
Sometimes complete statuses are not even applied either. While I used to be able to change the status to complete from the notification center, I still can in 3.0, although the change is simply not applied. The task is still marked as incomplete. Why???
Overall UI:
I find it absolutely time consuming how every time I open a task is a new tab, it takes me to the new tab. Again, as a project manager, I often review projects/tasks and I open them one all in their own tabs (as I often have to multitask in different clickup spaces while reviewing). I used to be able to right click to open in the new tab (from the notification center) and continue browsing the notifs while opening them. Now, it AUTOMATICALLY takes me to the new tab right after I open it in the new tab. This is annoying, because I have to go back to my original page every time. Again, extra clicks and very annoying.
In the UI again, there used to be a function on ClickUp 2.0 that would close the previous list if I toggle down another list. Pretty practical to keep things neat and tidy. Now, I have to manually close every folder I open one by one. They all remain open. Again, so many clicks and annoying.
The icons are super tiny and every single list feels very squeezed while also being so big. The assignee icon used to be obvious and big, as well as the date icon. Now, it’s super tiny and grey. The lists have all shrunk in size and all seem so small and cramped up together. But, when you click on them, everything is so huge with so much space white everywhere.
I find it extremely illogical that when creating a new subtask, the Templates field is placed in front of the assignee. In terms of priority of icons, I almost NEVER use templates but ALWAYS use assignees. Why it it the second field??
As an admin, it is very counterintuitive that my personal settings and spaces settings are in separate spaces. They’re both on opposite sides of the screen and it used to be much easier to have them both in the same place.
With the UI again, the colours are horrendous. Our spaces used to have a bright orange icon with orange green and yellow folders. Now, everything is grey and washed out yellow. Very ugly. The colours themselves are washed out and not as bright as before. I have purple theme, yet I barely see any purple anywhere.
The fact that the folders are not separated by little lines in the task list like they were before is also very hard to view, everything blends together.
I’m also very confused by the home page view. Why is the calendar view suddenly only showing tasks lists? I used to use the calendar to quickly see my day (including my Google Calendar events and meetinhgs) and easily slide events in the calendar. That option is also gone.
Finally, the “personal list” is a nightmare as a project manager. I need my team to create their tasks in the respective existing spaces. The default used to be our client tasks folder, (which is where I want them to schedule their tasks). A lot of my team uses the quick task function, but now this will most likely cause a lot of lost tasks. I made a test myself to test the feature, and have no idea where the task even went. After I closed the task, I couldn’t even find it again. Where is the personal list located?? I can’t have my team hide tasks from me, everything needs to be public for me.

Agree w all the above, esp the changes to the notifications center. It used to be so easy to thumbs up, reply, or otherwise react to tasks in the notifications center and now it's much harder and time-consuming. I hope they fix that part in particular soon.
