Show total estimated time for selected subtasks in multiselect mode
Mahdi Mahdinezhad
When managing development tasks, a parent task often contains multiple subtasks, each with its own time estimate. The total time estimate of the main task is the sum of all subtasks.
However, when assigning work for a specific day or developer, I frequently select a subset of subtasks (for example, those due today or those still incomplete).
Currently, ClickUp doesn’t show the sum of the estimated times for the selected subtasks. This makes it difficult to quickly calculate how many hours of work are being assigned or planned for that day. I have to manually add up the time estimates, which is inefficient and error-prone.
Proposed Solution
When multiple subtasks are selected (via checkboxes or multiselect), show a small total box at the top of the list or toolbar that displays the sum of time estimates for the selected subtasks.
- It could also show the remaining time estimate (if some subtasks are already completed) versus total time.
- Ideal for project managers who plan developers’ daily work by balancing workload across multiple subtasks.
