Show Fields labels in Board view
Michael Van Doorn
With the recent Board view redesign, labels for Fields are no longer shown on cards. These labels provided value by allowing a user to quickly connect a value with a field

if you have multiple fields of the same type it's very confusing. even if you dont- need to be able to see the custom field name not just the value. this should be fixed ASAP!!!

This would really be nice to have.

Stop trying to abstract things. ClickUp doesn't have a distinct enough design language to support using icons in lieu of text. Linear can do this precisely because they do not support custom fields—which is where this functionality breaks down (or when using multiple date fields).
You're also wasting space by having some field rows take up the entire width (e.g., why is the priority flag field 100% width of the card)?
I know a lot of designers think users want less cluster but in a PM tool, information density is critical.

Stop complicating things and just admit that this was a mistake. Fix it right away.

If you give the option to display, an important, field on the card, it is rather bizarre to remove the label of the field. At the very least, give the choice to hide or display the label.

We have an update landing in Production this week that'll improve the experience when interacting with Fields in Board view. Instead of displaying a tooltip when a user hovers over the icon of a field, we will instead show it anytime they hover over the field.

Michael Van Doorn the problem with this is now you've got to factor in the time lost while waiting for the hover to appear (and that can really add up with the crazy high memory usage the browser version is taking lately). I'd MUCH prefer simply having the label. Maybe give the option to have either the icon or the label?

Michael Van Doorn Unfortunately this does nothing to solve the issue. Before the board view update, it was possible to quickly scroll through a long list of cards and identify at a glance what each value was. Now I have to meticulously hover over the field on every card when checking, making it incredibly cumbersome to get a quick overview of the board.
Please just allow us the option to display the name of the Field directly on the front of the card, like we used to.

Michael Van DoornWe would be in favour of one choice per field. Why? Because there are obviously very different ways of using the board cards. For example, we are waiting for the option to place custom fields one after the other without line breaks (without field names) - the obligatory stacking was a huge point of criticism! On the other hand, it makes no sense to place a checkbox field without a field name. Please bear this in mind and don't take the simplest way now.

Michael Van Doorn any updates on this in light of everyone's critiques? Hovering is not a viable solution for my team and being unable to display the field names will be a deal breaker for us come our next renewal.
