Sharing & Permissions for Lists, Folders, and Spaces to Teams
complete
Perez Weigel
I would love to add complete teams to folders or lists or even spaces. Now I have to add every single person seperately. It costs a lot of time. Would be much easier to use teams for sharing and giving specific permissions. Please add this feature soon. :)

It got an error.
Added the team to the list/ folder but we have to add them one by one again.

Make sure to note, that this only an Enterprise feature :(

Hey all!
With our most recent release, we've added the ability to invite Teams to Lists, Folders, and so much more!
You'll also be able to share or invite Teams to Spaces very soon!

Eric Wightman: hi!
It's a really cool release and feature that will save loads of time while managing the team.
It is open only for Enterprise users - well, OK.
It's made for big teams and complex projects, and possibly it deserves to be available only for Enterprise plan.
BUT
Why do you add this???...
Note: Starting September 1st 2021, when view-only guests are added to a Team, they will be considered a paid guest seats, and will take up a paid guest seat.
I am a part of consulting company.
We work with a big Support Team and manage a Knowledge base for them in ClickUp Docs.
This team has more than 300 employees all over the world.
As an Enterprise user with 20 paid members, we have 105 paid guests.
With that Sharing to Teams feature, I would create:
- Support Team Operators (read-only right) = 300 users
- Support Team Leaders (edit rights) = 20 users
and would use it to greatly ease managing this crowd and save loads of time with a user by user approach.
====
Now let us calculate.
Enterprise plan with 20 paid members and 105 paid guests included and onboarding of 300+ guests with different rights.
Using the Sharing to Teams feature, I got stuck with a dilemma: Where can I get 195 more paid guests?
Do you really think that adding 39+ useless full members seats and even more each time the Client decides to grow to squeeze through the above restriction is the Enterprise plan ClickUp Client friendly approach?..
I believe that opening this feature for the Enterprise plan Companies only is absolutely OK.
But this rule that converts a read-only guest to a paid one once it's in a Team - that quite strange decision.
..
I would ask you to examine my case and consider changing your approach to monetize ClickUp with Sharing to Teams feature more carefully.
It is already the Enterprise Plan only feature. Release more as powerful as this one updates and more Business plan Companies would consider upgrading to Enterprise plan.
It is a better way to attract more money to business than to cut Enterprise plan rights with such

Pavel Pronin: Thank you for your very valid feedback!
This was a decision the team made for a couple of reasons.
First, we'll be adding support for Team Sharing to Spaces soon and that introduces some complexity since guests do not currently have access to Spaces. Additionally, Teams can have permissions both to the location and through the Team, creating more complex situations to work through.
That said, we're always looking for feedback about new releases and I've brought this up to the team! Thank you again!

Eric Wightman: Hi Is there still no ability to restrict or share a Space with a Specific Team? I can make it private and pick users or the entire workspace but not to a Team.

Eric Wightman: Very interested to know when sharing with a Team will be available at the space level. As of now, we can still only share with individuals and the ability to share with a team will dramatically impact how effective we can be at expanding to our larger organization. Making sure spaces are shared correctly is currently a massive time suck and a change like this would make a big impact for us.

Eric Wightman: Hi, any news on inviting teams for spaces? Regards

User Groups for Security

Security User Groups so we can:
Secure spaces, projects/folders, and lists by adding a user to a few groups. Today to secure a single resource you have to break the default permission for the team and fill in everyone you want to have access. It's a terrible long process to add a new person to a large company under this model. Imagine 100+ users and over 100 lists.
Even better, integrate with existing directories like Active Directory. We already are doing SSO. JIRA On-prem has something like this and it was very nice to work with our existing infrastructure.

Sharing spaces with teams

There should be a way to share each space with specific teams/users. I don't want everyone on the marketing space to see the financial space for example. Different teams need access to different spaces.

Add Retroactive Sharing to Teams
Christina Hooper
This is crucial for us.
Currently, when you a new member to a Team, they cannot access anything previously assigned to the Team.
We write a LOT of content for clients and growing. We created a dashboard that's basically a Job Board for our Writing Team.
When we assign a new writer to the Writing Team, they are not given access to all the tasks that are currently assigned to the Writing Team, so they can't see anything on the Dashboard/Job Board.
I have to manually go one-by-one to each task and unassign the Writing Team and reassign the Writing Team OR I have to go into the Task sharing options and share it with the new person.
Right now, I'm having to do this for dozens of tasks and we're only onboarding one or two writers a month. As we grow, it's going to be hundreds of tasks. That's going to take HOURS.
We either need it to be retroactive when we add a new member to teams, or we need the bulk edit toolbar on the Everything view to let us create a list of everything assigned to the team, select all the tasks, and allow us to either un and re-assign to the writing team to trigger the sharing, OR allow us to share the tasks in bulk from the Everything view.

As Any company it is segmented by departments and as of your documentation you mentioned that best practice is to have each department by a space. It would be logical for the manager and the HR Team to access the HR department Space. So only the people that need access to the HR tasks and their managers could see. Same goes for every department. It is very time consuming and brings alot higher chance for error adding each team member individually. If could assign team/teams to a space and restrict access only to them + add by members individually it would be a game changer. I moved from monday and have used multiple Managment platforms in the previous years and this is a crucial feature that is missing here. Kind Regards and hope to see it in the next update.

This would also be useful for Dashboards. That is, we would love to share dashboards with specific teams
