Rollup Task Type
Jenni Skarsten
In a rollup for a relationship that is for any task in the workspace, I'd like to be able to have the option to rollup the task type.

Jenni Skarsten Could you explain this a bit more? We're currently planning the next round of improvements for rollups and relationships, and I want to fully understand the problem you're trying to solve. Thanks!

Ivan Villa Sure thing! When you create a relationship between 2 tasks, the UI is very very basic. Just the name of the task in a white box. I can't tell much about this task unless I click into it and open the modal.
To increase visibility of certain fields, you allow us the option to roll-up data from the related task. (Custom fields are only available on one-to-one relationships.) As far as I know, task type is considered a system field since it applies to any task.
User Story: As a ClickUp Administrator, I want the ability to see the task type of the related task so that I can better understand the context of the relationship. This could be accomplished as a UI improvement or a rollup field.
Example use case: I want to create a relationship field called "Parent item" that would apply to any task anywhere in ClickUp. We have a task type framework across multiple spaces that covers various items such as:
→ Strategic Pillars
→ OKRs
→ Initiatives
→ Programs
→ Projects
→ Milestones
→ Increments
→ User Stories
→ Tasks / Subtasks
→ Bugs
As an example, projects are not always linked to Programs. Sometimes they are part of an initiative. I'd love to be to see the task type so that I can understand if a project is related to a program or is a standalone item within an initiative.
