For resource management, in our organization, the first step is to look at the workload at the role level. The current box view only allows you to see specific individuals which is useful, but once the employee count reaches the hundreds and executives want to see a high-level view of everything it becomes difficult in this view.
We're testing the use of dashboards with custom fields and once some bugs are worked out this should suffice or need, but it requires more manual input for every task & subtask in order to properly populate the data.
Ideally, admins would identify the various available roles for their organization and during the initial invitation of a new user they would be assigned a role.
This process would then allow us to filter box view by the role instead of only the individual user.
