Remap due dates when applying a Template via Automation

We use a form to create new tasks and when it is created an automation applies a specific template depending on answers from the form.
But, the automation does not remap the start or due date of the template. It just apply a template and changes the original task to the template's dates.

Currently, when you want to remap a template of a task, you are forced to pick an exact date. I want to usually remap subtasks according to the task due date, so it will be nice to have this as an option. Now I have to remember the task due date and fill it manually.

Luděk I want to clarify your use case further. Are you applying a task template to an existing task in List view? Does that task already have a task due date and so you want to remap subtasks based on the current task's due date?

+1 for this. We apply a TON of templates via automation and having to manually set due dates after automations is incredibly time consuming. We might be losing more time managing due dates than we're saving with the automations.

Currently, the remapping of the subtask dates when applying a template is only available when you manually apply a template. I would like to apply a template through automation, change the due date based on a custom field in the task, and then remap the due dates of all the subtasks. Just like when you change a due date, it asks you if you want to remap the fields. Can this be added as a step to the automation?
Or can we create templates that have a relative due date for subtasks instead of a fixed date? Like 2 weeks before the due date or 3 days after the due date.

Anecdotally, I had to put a lot of work into breaking down comprehensive templates into smaller, more manageable templates paired with automations as a workaround and that seems like not a good use of time

This feels less like a feature we should need to request and more like a bug that should be fixed.
